Greetings friends, in my on going veterans of the Cybertron Wars comes War for Cybertron Drag Strip This guy was a nightmare to make! First, the plastic Hasbro used on the front fork is a different type of material than I've ever worked with. It's almost like plastic with Rubber mixed in, makes sanding and cutting very tough. Second, Getting six wheels to fit in the tiny frame, and be removable at the same time. The spoiler assembly is made of the ladder off of an old Matchbox firetruck, as well as Energon Prowl's wing. Cyberverse Prime Bumblebee gave his arms to give this guy proper hands and the hands themselves came from Movie Evac. I really wanted him to have a brawler feel as I'm sick of seeing Drag strip as the skinny one of the group. His wheels came from Energon Prowl in addition to the two he came with. His arms became his engine intakes on each side of his main housing. The two front wheels are removable for different looks as well as turning left to right. His top housing/wing becomes menasor's Chest plate. I used the following colors or variations of: Hot purple Hot Red Dry brush steel/aluminum combo Lavender/purple Corvette yellow/Light signal Amber Violet Matte BBq black (love the stuff!) and lots of titanium white for the base primer. I tried to add scuffs on the edges and grime here and there to add to the "he's seen some s%$t" look. I basically made the Concept art from the DS game a reality, then I went a little G1 crazy on it. How did I do?
Hey thanks a lot! I appreciate that! Haha thanks , the robot mode is so tiny it was tough to work with and make plates for like his thighs. The Alt mode was my main focus. Plus the body works great as an arm so it was the lesser of two evils.
Thank you for noticing that! I'll have to post a pic of the original version I made. It was like the concept art with only two wheels up front and a yellow lined canopy and DID not translate well to real life at all. So I went nuts on it. =) thanks again!
Hey thanks man! I have all the parts to make him and with Motor master out of the way I probably should..hmmm Well that's mighty kind of ya thank you =)
nice concept! is there a way to get the 3rd set of wheels down behind his back? robot mode looks funky, alt mode looks beast!
Thanks and there is! The second set of wheels can fit on his lower waist or under the other set. I'll post a pic of that tomorrow, my camera was left at my friends house.
I had NO idea what mold was used for this until I scrolled down to robot mode, so you've definitely done a lot of work on this guy, and it's paid off, I loves me some stunticons and this is a beastly little Dragstrip. Can't wait to see what you have planned for the rest of the team.
Wow, even with the rough textures and paintwork there's clearly so much work that's gone into it I can't complain. But seriously, what was the starting mold? Because I don't recognize it.
even though there's an updated Dragstrip in FOC, this one does a pretty good job of representing the concept art.
I agree with Kyle Blues comments. The thought process to make this is very unique and you pulled it off well.
thanks for the kind words! I have only one other stunticon planned right now but I'll post everything on here that's for sure.=) Breakdown GTS was the base figure. I think you might like the Mk 1 of this fig. I'll post pics of what he used to look like before he was involved in a BBQ accident tomorrow night. He was a lot less melty. Thank you very much ! I didn't like the look he had in FOC, too pointy for my tastes thank you, I should have posted the other version before the "accident". He fell into my BBQ. I'm very clumsy. =(
I wanted to update some pics as some folks have asked me what mold I used. As well as upload some pics before he got all melted and looked closer to the Concept art, regrettably I cant find any of the pics with wheels or clarity for that matter but these pics will still give an idea. as well as the original wheels and rear wing which had boosters! i miss those boosters. fuzzy pic but you can see the yellow frame on the canopy and rear boosters
