I'm honestly at a loss here. I just can NOT understand why all of a sudden (literally) there's been such a large influx of people not attaching their images in Radicons. What is it that makes people think that they dont' have to? We have it mentioned as RULE NUMBER ONE in the Guidelines and Etiquette, we have a stickied thread in both the Customs and the Fan Art forums, we hound everyone in every thread that does not do this, AND we've gone so far as to have to delete images from threads in some cases due to authors absolute neglect in complying with our rules even after repeatedly being asked nicely to do so.
We are always seeing people confused as to why when they try to post a thread, they get an error message when they've not attached an image, and at the same time, we'll see a ton of people attach ONE image to not get said error message, and then proceed to NOT attach any of the rest of their pictures!
This rule has been in place and in effect for nearly TWO YEARS now. I just don't comprehend. Not just because of the fact that after nearly 2 full years, people who've been here and active here can still not get it, but also because NOT doing so is actually creating MORE WORK for themselves! It's unbelievably easy to click the "Manage Attachments" button, add their photos to the list, hit "Upload", and be done with it, and certainly easier than having to bounce back and forth between a tab or window with a photo-hosting website in it and their thread post.
It is simply getting out of hand. I really don't want to have to start iron-fisting rules on people, but it's really starting to look like I have no choice. I've always been proud of the fact that I have such a good community here, and that rules-enforcing hasn't been that big of a job, which frees up my time to do other things. Radicons aren't limited to just Transformers. . . .

I've noticed it here a lot also. I actually like the idea, not only to preserve any and all images so that everyone can easily still SEE the various customs and artwork, but also because it makes things much easier when everything is in a small thumbnail at the bottom of the post and the thread loads faster. If the images are all plastered large in the actual post(s), it takes them all a bit to load. If you want to see an image, click it to enlarge it. I'm sure people think you guys are hounding them about it, but as you said, it's in the fine print and they should have (or need to) read the rules and go with it. I'll vouch for it and say it's VERY simple and easy.
I'm sure this adds even more work to you and the other mods also--not much I can do about that, but I am sorry that you guys have to deal with it constantly because of people not complying with what you ask them to do. Hopefully it changes and everyone follows this because I literally can't tell you how many times I've personally clicked on a thread to go back and see a cool custom for reference, only to see a photobucket logo (or something similar). I use image hosting like most everyone else, BUT here, I attach those images and sometimes share those same images in the body of the post (but they are always attached--at least since you guys have asked everyone to do this). |

I'm just curious, but how many are reading this blog entry from looking at our front page, and how many because of the re-direct located in Radicons General Discussion? I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't our FP, as it seems most people forget we have one, other than when looking to see who the newest Featured Radicon is. I'll vouch for it and say it's VERY simple and easy. | When we've had to move literally HUNDREDS of threads when the new place for Radicons came about (the first time), we had MANY threads with NO content simply because of images linked to another place that no longer were there. We LOVE to see others' art, but it's hard to when it's not there anymore! This has been the best solution we have to solve this problem. The thing is that it would WORK if people simply adjusted. Often times, it leaves us feeling like we care more about the member's artwork than the artist themselves. Quote:

I enjoy making customs too. I'd love for us to have more things like contests and projects, etc., but it's difficult when mods are spending their time in threads policing things to get people to simply do the things they need to. |

In other words, if I run across someone who hasn't attached their images, give them a friendly reminder that they need to and why (so it preserves the images and sticks to the rules). Just trying to think of ways to help you guys out so that you can actually have some time to work on your own respective projects (trust me, I know the feeling--I have so much going on with life, my dogs, my fiancee, her father's cancer treatments, S70 site stuff, my own WIP projects, and the fact that I enjoy helping everyone out who may need it on their own projects). I just don't want you guys getting overwhelmed and not being able to do what you want to do--I'd love to see more work from you guys, but I also know how time consuming some of this stuff is.
As for that question, Andy--sometimes I hit Radicons through TFW's link to it, sometimes I hit it through S70's link to it, and sometimes I just leave windows open for both S70 and Radicons and drop back in when I'm not busy. I do visit the Radicons front page probably every other day, just to check and see what's new. |

It seems to hang a bit, then shows a page loading error. http://www.radicons.com/ |

WOuld it be somewhat possible to have an upload image function where I just highlight all the images and let it upload all at once? There was a few instances where I was uploading pics partially and my browser just went blank and I had to re-do the entire process. It's not that much work but it can get rather tedious. Know what I mean? Just a suggestion though. |
