saw it on ebay, sold for $2600. Most G1 bumblebee's are in robot mode, is this a super rare variation? very curious...

Nope. Just shill-bid higher than Cheech and Chong.

I have not used ebay yet to sell items but as I looked in to it I saw a 9% selling fee.

With shill bidding, does this seller still not have to pay ebay $250 in service fees? How would one get around that if a stupid trick like this fails? It seems to be the case there because there is no such thing as a $2600 Bumblebee.

Really, shill bidding? That's your expert input?

Nope, no shill bidding. Its just a mosc pre-rub bumblebee, not too many around in this condition. Hence the high price. And I guess this bee is worth 2600 to somebody, just not to someone that doesn't collect pristine G1 examples.

No, its not a ko, pre rub minis came mosc in vehicle mode. I believe a fellow board member may have bought. This figure, in this condition, warrants this price range.

Shill bidding accusations on this are unwarranted and uninformed.

The late husband story... Sounds like that same lady for a few years ago... Her husband had a massive collection.

I can tell you for a fact that the original pre rub mini cars came in car mode.

I have very clear memories of finding Huffer and Windcharger at Target and buying them when I was 9 or 10.

Sounds like a lot of money paid for a piece of junk. Maybe the seller will also buy the case of Blitzwings I've seen on ebay.

What one person may think is "junk" another may think it "treasure".

My thinking here is that since it's a pre-rub, mosc, and in really nice condition that there aren't a whole lot of these around in the world now.

If you have means and its something rare like that, I don't see the problem with the purchase. I think it'd be more likely that I'd engineer a time machine and go back to TRU in '84 and grab one before this made the top of my "What to do with $2600 list", but at any rate, he needs to get that in a case a.s.a.p.

    Ebay:
The collection was, I believe, one boxed of every g1 figure from 84 to 86. Collection sold for 1 million dollars...well not really. I think a lot of us were shocked because the collection isn't worth that but it had a nice story.

It ended up selling for much less. Link to the stories:

Transformer collection sells for $1 million - ParentDish

    and what really happened:

    5-YEAR-OLD CANADIAN BOY

I'm surprised a non afa graded pre rub went for more then 2 k but who knows, might be a 5 year old or someone with disposal money that is equal to my income or someone figured out how Bill me later works :)

People should worry more about increasing their own incomes instead of fretting about the spending habits of others.
