    Thugger Revision 4.0
    Update Dec 31, 2011

Presenting the latest version of the Thugger twins, revision 4.0!
These little robots are super posable and can be transformed into a
'cybertronian' cassette as well as a vehicle mounted rocket launcher!

These pictures are for those who are unfamiliar with Shapeways material.
With the right technique, it's possible to make the models look much more attractive.
These painted samples are also to highlight the detailing that went into the design.

Gunze lacquer and Testors fluorescent paints are used.

    Youtube Review
TFW2005 member sixpointsinspace has generously provided an awesome video review
where he shows off his assembled Thugger in Frost Ultra Detail!
Many thanks to him for the time and effort put into this, I really appreciate it! Video link here:

    Shapeways - Thugger Twins review

    Improvements from revision 3.0

    - Changed the weapon mounting system to be compatible with cyberverse figures and my other designs.

    - Lots of changes so minuscule that they are invisible to be naked eye, but makes for a cleaner mesh.

I printed 2 samples in White Strong Flexible and Frosted Ultra Detail and both worked well.
Care should be taken during assembly. Due to the shrinkage issues on Strong Flexible
you might find some joints to be too loose.
Use super glue or nail polish to thicken and reinforce them.

With all these being said, buyer beware.
Revision 4.0 should be the final version ever, and I doubt I need to revisit it
because I am confident I've solved most of the issues that plagued the original model.

You can order him here at
    Thugger on Shapeways.

For those who have gotten him, thank you so much for your support
and I hope you receive a good print! Comments, critiques and feedback on
problems faced in the figure will still be very much appreciated!

    Assembly
    [IMG]

For Detail materials, once you have received your shipment, take the time to make sure you have all the required pieces. Separate the components carefully with a penknife, and give them a good wash with warm soapy water and a stiff brush to remove any uncured material. Make sure all the nooks and crannies are clean. Don't lose any pieces in the sink! Warm water helps in softening the plastic, and it gives the pieces additional flexibility during assembly. Otherwise, Detail materials might be too brittle and snap easily.

For Strong Flexible materials, the joints can be very tight and you might need some force to assemble the joints, especially in the legs. Do take care and try not to break any pieces. If any joints seem too loose, pop them off, apply a thin layer of super glue on both the ball and socket, wait to dry before assembling them again. This should work.

Note: For Thugger 3.0, the double balljoint piece connecting his shoulders to the torso has 2 different ball diameters. The smaller diameter ball should go into his shoulder and the larger into his torso. Failure to do so might rip the shoulder piece apart.

Assemble all the pieces according to the image above. Enjoy your little Thugger!

I'm very impressed with how it turned out in clear detail. At that scale, I'd be hesitant to model joints, but it looks like you pulled it off very well!

You guys are so sweet. Thanks for all your support! Esp. azdragon, I know you have been waiting for the longest time!

Hi P, speaking of joints the test model really helped, as I know now how to create joints that retain adequate tightness even at such a small scale. Expect the 2nd revision to be awesome. :)

As I've mentioned on my other thread, I would hope to make a profit from what I'm doing. Roughly the ballpark is about $6 per Thugger, but in the end it's dependent on the quality of the final mesh. It's a good price I guess, I don't like people being turned off a good product because of price.

Designer secrets! I'm not sure if I wanna share it..shh...:)

Looks fantastic- it's fun to see other people's amazing design skills! Definitely will be ordering a couple of these guys as soon as you've decided that they're up to your standards! Again - beautiful.
Any chance of a pic with the clear fellow spraypainted so we can see the details better?
Or I guess I could just be patient!
