A Transformers comic page by Jose Delbo from Transformers #39 is up on Heritage Auctions right now. A friend of mine poked around Heritage's code earlier, so we have a link for the giant scan they put up. http://tinyurl.com/4s5fsj5 What does this mean? It means that you colorists out there now have a chance to tackle an original Marvel Transformers comics page! Full of Targetmasters and Fortress Maximus! You can BE Nel Yomtov! Have fun! (I assume this thread is okay for this board, as I wasn't sure where else to put it...)
Some people were having trouble downloading the image with the URL I gave, so here's an alternate option. http://obscuretf.com/Jose Delbo Transformers 39 Page.jpg
I'm probably gonna give a crack at coloring later this week, not sure how well it's gonna turn out since I haven't colored any lineart in ages.
Since my original post, more Jose Delbo artwork has gone up on Heritage Auctions. The pages are less Transformer-heavy than the original one I tossed up, but here they are anywho: http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...2042%20Page.jpg http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...0Pages%2001.jpg http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...048%20Pages.jpg
More Delbo pages! http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...2049%20Page.jpg Powermaster Optimus Prime! Fort Max! Blaster! http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...0Pages%2002.jpg Seacons! Iguanas and Skullgrin! A giant group shot! MASTER MOUTH!
Another pair of pages! One from a Furman issue, and one... with half of the Roadjammers. Oh well. http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...0Pages%2003.jpg
So hey, remember this thread? I've been scouring through the Heritage Auction archives, and have turned up more black-and-white Delbo material. I don't want to upload it all at once, though, because I'm not sure about my overloading my server. So here's a sampling! Nebulans! Road Jammers! APEFACE BEATING SOMEONE WITH HIS OWN ARM! Starscream! Skullgrin in a giant chair! Uh.. Carissa Carr! Hop to it, colorists.
Another week, another set of Jose Delbo pages! Skullgrin vs. Circuit Breaker! Skullgrin vs. himself! Also, Shockwave cooks breakfast for Buster Witwicky! Spike Witwicky explains himself to Clifford Dietz! Starscream and Ratbat debate! Optimus Prime and Megatron in the Underbase! The Autobot Nebulans discover Earth! Spike Witwicky traces a phonecall! Ratbat brings Buster uncooked fish! Galen is so hilariously petty.
More Jose Delbo pages! Mooore! Autobot Headmasters, combine! The Decepticon desert island fortress! And Kup thinks Spike-Maximus will get them all killed! Behold, the new Fortress Maximus! Spike looks for Buster! And, later, comes out to his father as an Autobot! Finally, as a special treat, here's one of the only TF comic pages on Heritage Auctions NOT by Jose Delbo - from Transformers: Generation 2, it's Manny Galan art!
With the multi-book auctions out of the way, we now begin from, well, the beginning. Here's a set of pages that are exclusively from Jose Delbo's first issue on Transformers, "Trial by Fire!". One of these pages stands out to me for actually being incomplete - apparently all the flashback images were photostatted in for printing! http://obscuretf.com/Jose Delbo Transformers 38 Page.jpg http://obscuretf.com/Jose Delbo Transformers 38 Page 02.jpg And to keep the theme of threes going, here's another something special - scanned from the inside back cover of one of Marvel's TF digests, it's black and white Don Perlin art of Optimus Prime's explosive death in "Afterdeath!". http://obscuretf.com/tfscans/scan0007.jpg
And now another triple-treat! Four pages from issue 39, "The Desert Island of Space!", including the "death" of Shockwave... and the COVER to issue 40, "Pretender to the Throne!" The latter represents, I believe, one of only two Jose Delbo Transformers covers to have appeared on Heritage Auctions, and includes all trade dress. http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...20Page%2002.jpg http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...20Page%2003.jpg http://obscuretf.com/Jose%20Delbo%20Transf...2040%20Page.jpg
