More Constructabots, this time from the 2014 "Beast Hunters" branded segment of the line: SDCC 2013 Beast Hunters Constructabots Official Images - Transformers News - TFW2005
Skystalker looks really solid. It's a little humorous that one of Megatron's weapons has a passing resemblance to Chop Shop.
The Bulkhead triple team just made it on to my need list. Would love Beast Wars deco's on Airazor and Wolfang though...
The little partners that come with Bulkhead and Megatron are so wonderfully bizarre. Buzz-saw Ratbat!
I notice the birdy one turns into a sword (very zoids like) - I wonder if that would fit on Cryo-Scourge, Cryo-Predaking or Cryotech at all ? Or is the link connections are 5mm and you can use them like oversized Arms Microns.
I like most of them! A question though, are they like Kre-Os which you have to disassemble before "transforming" or they transform like regular figures?
Skystalker looks awesome. The rest are interesting enough. Also, for a second, I thought Megatron's bat sidekick was supposed to be Arms Micron Hades. Kind of makes sense, considering this is supposed to be the "Unicron" version of Megatron.
Nope they surprisingly enough transform just like any other simplified figure. If something comes off that's just because it's what happens when you make something out of building blocks. Skystalker holy smokes does he look phenomenal. His deluxe didn't really do anything for me, but man do I like that constructabot version.
They've just released the 2013 line and they've already moved onto 2014? Ah well. They are making some improvements to the design. Starscream shows clearest that they're doing something with the boot gap in vehicle mode. The other figures also show that they're filling in the space between the arms in that mode. A little, anyway.
ripclaw robot head look abit weird.... BH ripclaw look like she wear a helmet, but this ripclaw, she look like a monster... but the dragon mode is still awesome, i might pick her up...
"Transformers, colours that hurt the eye..." They're hit and miss. The figures themselves don't look too bad. I have some issue with some of the colour choices on Bulkhead, but overall they are not shabby at all. Optimus and Bumblebee show definite improvement from this year's models. (Well, maybe not Bumblebee's head sculpt...but customisation is a design feature.) However, those weapons are pretty hideous; they are too over-sized and so garish. Particularly that dragon head ring thing; just what where they thinking keeping that? If the figure looks better without the weapon, you need to rethink your weapon design. (Hint: the chain gun from the show would have been a much better choice.) Seriously, the designers really need to revise the basics of colour theory and pay particular attention to colour harmony. Giant red bird-bow on a solid yellow car? Lime-green missiles on a red and grey jet? And Bulkhead...just no.
Mostly it's say the way the lawn green chest-plate clashes with the bright orange and fire-engine red. The forest green of the shoulders and back-pack clearly works better with those two colors. Still, in vehicle mode, with the orange and red mostly hidden, the two tones of green play well with the silver accessories. (These are the best weapons of the bunch; a nice neutral colour that can go with anything.) So, overall, either make the chest plate darker, or swap the autumn colours with a neutral base.
