The new packaging, exterior at least, is F'ing outstanding. The boxes themselves just beg to be on display with the toy surpise inside.

Oh that's right. Hasbro has some masterpieces as well. I nearly forgot during my smokescreen preorder.
They look fine. Kind of makes me wonder, Transformers black label? Masterpiece?

I did, I love good packaging, and the packaging on the SDCC Bruticus is AWESOME. Totally worth $100 for me. One of the best packaged toys I've ever seen. The artwork is great, both on the inside and the outside flap. You can display the packaging closed, to show the incredible battle artwork, or you can flip it open to show the toy, along with a different picture and a bio. Great stuff.

I like the toy as well, though I seem to be in the minority on that one.

Acid Storm looks kinda nifty, not something I'm gonna hunt, but If I find him a TRY with an extra 75 in my wallet I'll take him home.

Bruticus vs Grimlock is an easy pass, I've liked the Platinum edition figures up until this point because of the creative retooling that went into Ultra Magnus and Omega Supreme. this set is dissappoint, barely feels like Platinum, feels more like a reboxing of the Takara versions. Oy HASBRO, if you're gonna rebox and distribute Japanese toys, GIVE ME PRIME BREAKDOWN

Linkin Park Soundwave......when it was shown off last year I considered getting it because it is an oddity, after all when's the last time Transformers had a Musician tie in product before? but seeing it in the Butterscotch colours instead of the shiny gold we were promised is a dealbreaker for me. But I hope this thing sells enough units to its target audience, cuz I wouldn't mind seeing more Music tie in like this. maybe a ZZ TOP edition redeco of HFTD Hubcap or something like that

Keep in mind that $100 is barely over what it would cost to collect Fruiticus.

It's no one's fault that there was a feeding frenzy over SDCC. I mean yes Fruiticus was pretty ugly and inaccurate but we at least knew Takara was going to take a crack at it.

I definitely want Acid Storm, but I don't think I'll have any trouble hunting him down, if Thundercracker was any indication. Of course, if he ends up like MP-10, AC's going to be a bitch to pick up.

I'd love to get Grimlock vs. Bruticus, but it's something I can hold off on since I already own the retail versions of both, plus I on picking up Ruination too. Depending on the price, I'll either pull the trigger or shrug my shoulders and move on.

And I kinda want LP SW simply because it's Soundwave, but those colors look horrible to me, like a Dollar Store knock-off of a Lucky Draw. I do like the packaging, though. The SW fanboy in me is screaming "It's Soundwave! Must own now!", while the rest of me is saying "Ugh, do I have to?"

Now that would be awesome. I'd totally get an Eliminator TF.

This is transformers we are talking about here. There are reissues and redecos of everything can't we be happy for people that can get the sdcc bruticus and grimlock for a reasonable price?

You're missing the point entirely on your reasons for buying, really. I don't think very many people (if any) bought the SDCC Bruticus because they wanted it right that second, because at the time, the TakaraTomy versions hadn't even been officially announced, or described and the retail versions were due out shortly after the convention.

Anyone who purchased the set as a long-term investment opportunity wasn't making a smart decision. That's never a good reason to buy something like this.

In my opinion, the main motivating factor to buy the set was the game accurate coloring. And then Takara did, in fact, do it better, but at least that's a different market, so it wasn't necessarily a slap in the face. Something like this set, that's highly likely to make it to American shelves though, is a bit irritating, because it takes what was a cool exclusive and makes the contents somewhat trivial. I find that disappointing.

If people had known that something like this would be done later down the road, I don't know that the SDCC set would have been quite the sellout product it was.

Personally, things like that make me feel like I need to be rather cautious about future exclusive purchases from Hasbro.

Oh shit Linkin Park Soundwave, that's still coming out? I thought it would have gotten cancelled.

Would you say that Hasbro releasing their own Thundercracker/Dirge/Thrust from the Classics mould was a slap in the face to those who paid huge amounts for the BotCon '07 versions, then? (albeit the BC versions were a Hasbro licensee rather than Hasbro themselves, but it's still the same market)

Quite happy that Acid Storm is the neon green and not the muted forest green.
    Will actually purchase now.

You know, I used to hate the two tones of green they used for the camo and fuselage... but it's growing on me, like some sort of horrid bacterial infection. Plus he's a friggin' F-15, and I'm a sucker for good plane-formers.
