Return of the Living Dead had zombies that were aware, though for the most part they had no interest in communicating. The top half of a woman zombie tells them that she can feel herself rot and its extremely painful, eating human brains and whatever chemicals it contains stops the pain for a brief period.

This made them so much more disturbing to me because not only were they thinking and deliberate people out to get you, but they were desperate, suffering victims as well. Being a zombie in this movie is a bad deal.

 

I have been saying it since early on. the best episodes all have Knockout in them.
he's really my reason to keep watching.

(to be fair though I am the biggest tracks fan ever and he hits the nostalgia of that for me while adding a few fun new twists)
