Because that line you just quoted is literally the exact same statement as "the needs of the many outweight the needs of the few" except hella more lame and clunky.

 

People like that who are so overly critical, nit-pick every detail, scoff at anything and everything that isn't entirely rational (nevermind that irrational does NOT mean unrealistic)
and in general, act like THEY 'know better' or think they 'could do a better job' when they rip apart.an episode in it's entirety...are one of the many reasons why people won't come or stop coming to sites like this one.

Too many posters who act like something crawled up their tailpipes and died and insist on.telling everyone.

You know what really sours the forums? People who act "oppressed" or condemn any kind of questioning whatsoever because "they don't like it." These forums are a place for intelligent conversation, not squandering opinions just because it breaks up the sunshine and smiles. It goes both ways, too.

To paraphrase something a mod once posted: this is a place for discussion, and all that word entails.

 

Look while it's true that this is a dicussion thread and we shouldn't get too worked up about other peoples opinions but that doesn't hide the fact that there are indeed people here who do in fact use insulting posts and try to attack other people for thinking shows like TFP are great and not bad. Some people here who bash the show or any other series in an insulting manner aren't any different from those who expect the forums to be all sunshine.

If said discussion ends up creating an atmosphere that is unwelcoming to the point of being hostile, which in turn drives people away, then it's evident that there's a real problem with how people are conducting themselves.

Now I'm not saying people aren't allowed their opinions or that they can't express them. But when things get so heated and negative on a site that people are actually LEAVING and telling their online friends to avoid said site and they tell more people who spread the word, then MAYBE it's time for a serious re-evaluation.

What incentive do people have to not simply come, but to STAY at a site where there is so much overwhelming negativity???

 

Honestly I'm just inclined to say those people might be just a touch too sensitive. If you can't handle people not agreeing with you, or at teh very least are incapable of avoiding/ignoring unwanted discussion, you're obviously not cut out for message boards in general.

TFW is a pretty nice place all things considered.

 

What I've learned in my time on the boards is to not give a damn what others think of your opinion. That's why they're your opinions. We all have different preferences so you can't really argue whether a series is good or bad. Who are you (not specifically you, anybody) to tell me I'm wrong? You don't decide what's universally good and bad. Don't get me wrong, I love debate. But in the end, we all form our own opinions. If I think Prime's a great series, then damnit its good to me so there's no point in arguing with me because it's not gonna change my mind.

 

Well, then I guess there are a LOT of oeople who are 'just too sensitive' because I've met more than a few online who avoid this site like the Plague because of the negative environment. And I know these people; they can engage in discussion and handle debate, but they don't come here because there are more than a few people here who insist on creating drama and demean and put down those who disagree with them.

I think people who act in THAT manner are the ones who are 'just too sensitive' and can't handle debate because they have to make it all about themselves and what THEY think and anyone who disagrees with them is automatically wrong and/or stupid.

Again...what incentive do people have to stay at a site where people such as that are all too common?
