This is what popped in my head when I first saw the alt mode:

Dreadwing and Skyquake came with both, so it stands to reason that Megaplex will too.

If this figure had a Megatron-esque head it would be a must have for me. As is, it's an easy pass.

    i wonder if it'll have skyquake's gun or dreadwing's. i'd presume dreadwing's since it's the original tooling.

Hard to say. Skyquake was originally slated to be released first and then got bumped so one can argue that he is the original tooling. Not that original tooling really is the decider.

Hopefully neither. Those Powerizer weapons were terrible.

Bad news- they already said he'd be coming with the powerizer weapon, they just didn't specify whose... though they're similar enough that it doesn't matter much, it'd be nice if it was the SQ gun since he's so much harder to get.

And I mean, really, it could be a worse weapon. Optimus, Bulkhead, Starscream.. those were all god-awful. Dreadwing and Skyquakes aren't half-bad once you lock them into gun mode and paint them a decent color. Presumably Funpub will handle the "paint a decent color" part of it. Black would be just fine.

was it really? huh. well i figure the original tooling would be the decider since it'd be available sooner so plans are made for it first, probably.

Yeah, Skyquake was definitely solicited instead of Dreadwing- with pictures showing Skyquake's deco, even- back before either of them came out. Then for some reason they switched it to Dreadwing before release and bumped his bro to the end of the line. Probably because Dreadwing turned out to be far more important in the show.

They did the same thing with Ironhide. Originally they solicited and showed him, but when he came out it was Kup.

Either Hasbro is getting really good at making last-minute changes or the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Neither would shock me.

Alt mode is looking good but not good enough to change my mind on passing on the figure.

I like the mold and the colors, but wish they had a different head mold to make it more unique a figure. Some kind of different weapon would have been nice too.

I don't think it matters if a large toy now has a small toy. G1 Skyquake had Energon Starscream's mold as his new toy at Botcon. I'd rather have an appropriate mold than keeping the same size.

    Hmm... I would have

Optimus Prime - Deluxe Energon Rodimus (new head based on 1997 Machine Wars toy)
Megatron - Voyager Prime Dreadwing - (new head based on 1997 Machine Wars toy)
Starscream - Ultra Universe Silverbolt (new head based on 1997 Machine Wars toy)
Soundwave - Deluxe Generations WFC Soundwave

Each would have 1997 Machine Wars color schemes. Even if it is the same bunch of characters we keep getting, the color schemes would make them unique.

Strika is the third Deluxe, same as the one we are getting.

Problem is that FP would essentially be rehashing a figure they've already done, in the shape of BotCon 2006 Darksyde Megatron.
