As a strict shot in the dark/desire: this may be hinting at Trailcutter being in the show, possibly getting a Voyager or Deluxe figure, THEN getting THAT recolored/redecoed into a Hasbro TFP mainline release. I just certainly hope we see a larger TFP Trailcutter all Beast Hunter'd up, as that would be my TFP Ironhide.

Here's hoping for an unlikely Deluxe.

Looks totally cool, and I'll totally pick it up.

    But...

I really want a Classics deluxe Trailbreaker. I will be sad if he comes out in Prime, thus delaying a possible Classics-style release.

So it's agreed that this looks like an extensive remold of CVC Kup/Ironhide?

Bleah! I said I wanted a Deluxe Trailbreaker, but this isn't what I had in mind. It barely looks like him!

I'm liking this more and more. This looks a little better and fitting that Ironhide.

Look like who? This is Prime Trailbreaker, not G1 Trailbreaker. Considering he's a non-show character until now, ha can't really look like anyone (except Prime Ironhide/Kup, of course).

I wonder, what happened back then with BW Rampage? Did people jump screaming "WTF why is he a Crab this looks nothing like Rampage!" The same happened now with Predaking, people were curiously complaining that he doesn't look like G1 Predaking. What franchise have these people been following?

I mean, what are they gonna do next, Inferno transforming into some insect? Cyclonus into some kind of helicopter?

You, my friend, are of the same mindset as me. :D  it's baffling people haven't accepted this yet. Look at Ironhide!

    G1
    BW
    RID
    Armada (minicon)
    Micron Legend (Demolishor)
    Energon
    Movie
    Animated (Bulkhead in JPN)
    Animated (US)
    Prime

Only Animated and Prime resemble G1 Ironhide...

I'm not all twisted up about Trailcutter, but I understand why people see it differently. The Prime universe is rolled up with the WfC universe, and WfC is very strictly G1 updates while Prime tends to either stick fairly close to established characters or invent wholly new characters. Even Arcee, BB, Soundwave and Smokescreen aren't THAT far off from their G1 conceptions. The only really blatant exception at this point is Predaking, from a Decepticon combiner to a Predacon giant dragon commander.

So yeah, people are going to judge characters on the basis of G1 resemblance to some extent and there's nothing wrong with that. These aren't names passed down a la Beast Wars and it's not a scrabble for trademarks that resulted in whatever the hell A/E/C was (aren't there like five Blackouts?). They have been presented so far as largely tweaked versions of some classic character.

That said, Prime toys that can pass for Classics are a blessing, not expected. It's a solid way to retool Ironhide, which I presume was desirable budget-wise.

Prime Arcee and Soundwave not far off from their G1 versions?? What? Arcee is still a female. Soundwave is... blue. And has minions. Breakdown is.... blue. Oh and he has wheels. They're all pretty far off from the G1 versions.

The games... The reason they're a square peg in a round hole is because the people making the game call it a G1 game, while Hasbro wants it part of "Aligned". That's where the conflict comes in.

Even if I wasn't losing my job there's no way in Hell I would spend money on that piece of junk.

Try harder, current TF Design Team, please.

Yep, the whole aligned continuity thing is just a big mess. They should just have kept all of it as different lines and called it a day.

Well at least they still have their jobs, good for them.

Anybody more accepting of this toy because of the new Generations Trailcutter?

Cyberverse Trailcutter was disliked because we thought it to be our only Trailcutter this year.
