Ha, I like those new wheels with the little Autobot symbol in the middle. HasTak did a good job distinguishing this mold from Soundwave. And that head sculpt is great. My only reservation is that ugly brown plastic of which his lower body is composed. Worth it to spend triple the price to get a silver-legged Takara version? Hmmm....

I genuinely don't mean this is a snarky way, but this statement baffles me to no end. I feel like embracing repaints/remolds is as essential to being a Transformers collector as, say, liking robots. Such a large portion of this franchise hinges on repaints and remolds. I'm not saying you're wrong, and everyone is of course entitled to approach their collecting differently... but man, I just can't help but think of all the amazing figures on which one would miss out following a "no repaints" policy.

I'd love to see these kinds of extensive retools become standard.

I don't think this will supplant my Device label Blaster (although very tempting with the great sculpt) BUT I will buy the heck out of a Twincast repaint!

Looks pretty good and with RTS Perceptor too. I would have loved it if he could just transform into a Cybertronian type communication device that maybe looked like his earth radio mode instead of a vehicle. Too bad there is no deluxe version either.

There's a reason I want this guy, it's cause I had the big boombox/radio version a long time back.

Gotta admit... this retool looks sweet. Rarely one to get minor retools but wow...

I like him but, much like WhiteMocha, I'm debating on either I should get this version or the prettier Takara version.

Ow, a little off-topic, but why no pictures with Device Label Soundwave! I kinda want to see on if they look good together....

I really really dig Blaster's headscuplt. This is a win. Even if he is just a Soundwave retool it works quite well as him.

Now if only we'd get a Scrounge. Then life would be complete.

Not our fault you bought the oversized Soundwave/Soundblaster.

Blaster is more than just a simple repaint

    Like it, love it, ordered...

I seriously hope that someone makes an MP version of Blaster, boombox style. Basically a G-1 style but that is fully poseable.

Yeah yeah yeah... Soundwave & Blaster are unique bots that aren't and shouldn't be repaints of one another, but in THIS case where they're sportin' alien Cybertronian designs & alt modes, some creative allowance is more than acceptable. We all accepted it with Classics Sideswipe & Sunstreaker, Skullgrin & Darkmount, and Tracks & Wheeljack all suddenly sharing molds, so we can most certainly accept it here.

I LOVE the fact that Blaster and Soundwave are repaints of each other.

In G1 - we had Blaster absolutely towering over almost every other figure. He was twice the size of his rival. It didn't look right in display and it didn't play right for kids.

Both are minibot/tape carriers with similar alt modes, so there are similarities. Both need to be in scale, as they were in the cartoon (rivals). The best way to make two figures with similar features and similar scale is through repaint/remolding (do keep in mind that this figure is remolded in several areas).

It was nice to see Cybertron Soundwave get a matching Blaster and it's great to see one of the best Soundwave updates get one as well. With the remolds, Blaster and Soundwave are much more different than their Cybertron/Universe versions.

I have all 3 versions. Sure Soundwave and Soundblaster are really close......but Blaster's head is GREAT! I have not messed with the chest launching thing much. Seems the disks are pretty tight and do not launch very well. The data disks would be better if they did not have the Autotransform thing. My Steeljaw has some tight springs making his back really arch more than it should. Ravage has less arch. The Laserbeak/Buzzsaw/Ratbat mold I do like except there should be something to let the clip or peg on an arm or shoulder. Overall nice tho!

Passing on 'Wave... BUT if someone can confirm whether Hibiki (Kamen rider) Disk animals fit in him, or someone makes duplicates the correct size with shapeway... I'll seriously consider getting Blaster... but still no to 'Wave, I have his WFC..

I really don't get how you can hate on this figure. Soundwave and Blaster should be similar, much more then the G1 toys were. They were rivals, tape decks, and when stood side by side, Matched up much closer then what the G1 toys offered as a representation!! Like everyone else said, much has been retooled and the head and face are wonderful!

Amen brother! Are you in mass also? Here at my local Walmart, wave 1 deluxes are still shelf warming and I think it is that way at Target also. I am worried that we may not even get the new deluxes here, let alone the voyagers! :(  I will probably end up ordering them online at some point.

I totally agree with this and I remember it bugging the hell outta me when I was a kid! Still does really, that is the beauty of classics! There were many flaws in the days of G1 such as lack of articulation, color, Head sculpts and basically everything inbetween! Classics fixes many of those in the updated representations we get now. When I was a kid I loved G1 and loved the toys but many of them upset me to the point where to this day I really don't want any of them but I gotta tell you I still love the cartoon and I absolutely love the Classics and Masterpiece lines!
