They may not be Figmas, but I'm going to buy them anyway. Because I'm a sucker.

I kinda feel that they should have been cast-off figures, just to hit that Kiss Players niche. Which isn't me, but I'd still find it amusing. I think.

They can make highly articulated, greatly designed female figures...

... and they make two NOBODIES instead of, I dunno - adult Sari, Circuit Breaker, Carly, Mikaela or "Alice"?!?

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Takara?

Takara makes toys for the collectors in mind, and they are a Japanese brand, mind you. The simplest explanation is: they can make whatever the hell the 'Otaku' fan market wants. quit complaining about little things, man. I swear, this fandom makes me ashamed to be associated with it sometimes.

This mock up was posted over at Seibertron.com.

If TakaraTomy had the chutzpah to not use Convoy/Prime, the Motul Autech GT-R would have made a much better Star Saber. They could have then used the Impul Calsonic GT-R for Dai Atlas.

Alas, those two late G1 Japan commanders don't have the same name recognition as Prime.

What's done is already done, hopefully Fort Max's head is a new mold instead of just repaint of Convoy's head.

hmm, that mock up actually looks more decent... somehow I wonder if a simple swap of each other car parts is possible?

Compared to what Japan did to Marissa Fairborn in Kiss Players, I think having two nameless girls is a better idea.

Probably because the licensing is for Race Queens not TF characters as race queens.

Also I'm sure they want these characters to be Japanese like the real Race Queens are. Characters like Sari, Circuit Breaker, Carly, Mikaela, and Alice definitely don't fit that bill.

You're obviously not the niche they're trying to market these to.

Pretty much this (that and the complaints about having to apply stickers and put together Arms Microns ourselves). The fandom here in the West likes to think that the industry revolves around them. I assure you that it does not. Different products for different markets. These are distinctly Japanese products for a Japanese collector's market.

We need the Sari Super Mode thing as a real toy. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

There are people out there that will definitely buy the Race Queens off of you if you're buying the figures. I saw someone on the Allspark who wanted just the girls.

These have done a good job of making me want one of the Alternity Convoy molds. I loved Alternity Megatron... till I broke a leg. :(  But these remolds... the looked better in greyscale. I don't like all the sponsor paint apps. Appropriate, sure, for the context... but I don't like em.

It is because of the sponsor issue that may have lead to the hefy price for the Alternity GT figure.

That's probably part of it. A $60 figure a few years back, new tooling and accessories, a Microman figure, and the licensing starts to make the pricing seem more justified.
