Weaving did the job he was hired for, and got the agreed upon payment. He did the job, and moved on, like people do. He let it go. His participation was not a life sentence.

I've been wondering something ever since Bay started doing the flip flopping back around RotF - why can't BAY let the movies go? He's acting like a manipulative boyfriend, who one moment dumps you, then the next 'oh I didn't really mean it, I love you baby', clings to you like he'll die without you, and then gets enraged when you and other people move on, because he can't.

It's because the Transformers brand carried him to the bank, and he knows he'll never have that level of success again without riding the giant robot coattails.

I think he was referring to Bay not Weaving.

While they certainly padded the coffers, by no means was he unsuccessful prior to the TF franchise. Pay close attention to the Adjusted For Inflation numbers.

Those numbers look pretty but mean nothing until you contrast them to budget and advertising.

 

And they also don't include DVD, Blu-ray or other forms of revenue. But let's not go there because I was merely responding to one post. For the love of God, I'm not trying to start a quality vs. box office results debate.

As a matter of fact, it's impossible to have ANY sort of debate regarding ANY facet of the movieverse.

These comments are even further proof to me that Michael Bay doesn't care about being an artist as long as he's getting paid more than 98% of the population--because that's all that matters, right?

Yeah, Hugo Weaving might have just done the job for the money and was never emotionally invested in it, but I respect him for wanting to do something more, for not being satisfied with just making a paycheck and wanting to instead make genuine art. I will gladly pay money to see a movie by and/or starring someone with a heart for good storytelling. Weaving's dissatisfaction has nothing to do with the money, and just because he has money doesn't mean he can't be disappointed in the atrocity that was Bayformers.

 

Good riddance Hugo!!! Im, quite frankly, getting tired of Megatron always coming back from the dead and feel like he's worn out his welcome. Here's a super, insanely crazy idea from way out of left field....GALVATRON!!! The cartoons did it and Galvatron became an iconic villain also. This is a Perfect opportunity to use different villains/transformers in general. Bay said the new movies are gonna have all new casts and robots so why not take the next logical step and have Megatron rebuilt and improved upon by becoming Galvatron? This is a perfect way to FINALLY introduce Unicron.

But wait, that's right. I almost forgot, this is Michael Bay and a Hollywood movie studio making the movie so anything that seems too logical and appeases to the fans too much should be scrapped because they don't want to appeal to the fans, just the general audience who has no idea who Galvatron or Unicron are.

Yes I guess this was the main problem and of cource that someone like Michael Bay is involved who is known for his less patience.

However I wouldn't be surprised if Frank Welker would speak Megatron/Galvatron in TF4. Fine by me.

 

If Megatron returns in TF4, I would love for Frank Welker to do the voice. Hugo Weaving as Megatron, I never really felt it since you couldn't tell it was him doing the voice.

 

For those upset with Weaving, I found this very interesting/telling:


I just watched some behind the scenes from Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Fincher (the director) is in there supervising post production rerecording Rooney Mara (plays Lisbeth) making grunting sounds for when she's getting raped/kicking her rapist. He's there in person to make sure grunts are just the way he wants them.

Michael Bay apparently didn't even bother to show up for the dialogue of the main villain of all three of his movies. (which I'm pretty sure is why he's making a stink now, he doesn't like people knowing how little he cares about anything besides blowing stuff up).

 

Weaving was doing a play in Australia. The flight there and back would about been about 10-15 times the duration of the recording session. That's not really an effective way to produce a movie, is it?

 

Whatever. Bay is the biggest whiner of them all.

 

why is bay so defensive of this series? it's not horrible, but whenever someone disagrees he just bites their head off. if this means a new voice actor for a megatron (if he is included) than f*ck bay, stop changing sh*t.

 

But... Megatron is dead. We all saw him die in DoTM  . Why are they teasing a comeback for Megs, they better not treat this like the Death and Rebirth of Superman.
