I cant see why Hasbro wouldnt eventually release SW (and I assume most/all the current cassettes). It's Sideswipe and even more so, Red Alert that I think are still up in the air as to Hasbro bringing over to N.A.

per TCracker earlier, the intention was for Hasbro to release most MPs, but that was about a year ago when he said it.

Because it's a cassette deck and it's an expensive item. Hasbro's tentative about either of that kind of release, and doubling up on it could be considered quite risky.

Hasbro of late has been very conservative with their releases, playing it very safe. Soundwave, by their logic, isn't a safe release. A cassette deck isn't a very marketable alt-mode (compared to past MP releases, which include a futuristic sports car with flames, a blue fighter jet, Optimus Prime, and a freaking robotic T-Rex), which is compounded by the fact it's going to be a very expensive item.

Now, I'm not saying he WON'T make it over here, and I hope he does. I'm not, however, going to put all my eggs in that basket.

This is the same company that is making a "Linkin Park" version of the original Soundwave. It may take awhile, but I am pretty sure it will happen at some point.

The greatest invention on the internet! :D

Besides, if I'm going to write a wall-o'-text anyway, I'd might as well have some quotes in there to break it up a bit. ;)

Speculation, and precedent. There has never been an MP mold that was not released by Hasbro. Why start now?

Nothing is guaranteed with Hasbro, as we've learned... not even officially announced figures with in-box pictures (I'd list some examples, but there are too many to bother. grrrr...)

But it's Soundwave, who is a tremendously recognizable character from the fiction. Let's face it, Hasbro knows that MOST of the Masterpiece figures they release are aimed at the adult collector fandom. Jets and tyrannosaurs are cool, but this isn't a bid for the wide child market... it's a collector's piece. In that sense, MP Soundwave is as worthwhile as any other book-style re-issues or collectible... especially now that Transformers visibility is riding high after the movies.

Oh, so I'm not the only one who'd love to see a Shattered Glass MP10? Awesome! I must ask though, why you passing on MP10B? I'm getting it, I always thought Nemesis Prime was kinda neat.

    Well, besides the Megatron mold.
But I agree, Hasbro knows how popular of a character Soundwave is, they reissued him twice (TRU and SDCC) even though he's "just a tape deck." The only other G1 toy they reissued twice was Optimus Prime, so I think chances are good of MP Soundwave being released..

    Yay Takara!
I always said I'd buy from HasTak if they'd offer what I wanted. But I have to admit, I didn't mean for them to offer it all at once!

Hasbro MP Soundwave will probably be cheaper than Takaras, and include 4 cassettes.

WTF? $60 for the two cassettes? Aren't they the same size as the G1 cassettes?

those cassettes are ridiculously expensive. $30 or $35 would've been a lot easier to swallow.

I find it funny to see Transformers fans complaining about price.

    Transformers fans;
    - pay $100 for 3rd Party deluxes (TFC Hercules)
    - pay $50 for 3rd Party scouts (FP Causality)
    - pay $50 for 3rd Party legends (PE Shadow Warrior)
    - pay $350 for a 30 year old reissue (Fort Max)
    - pay $12-$15 for a repaint (CHUG Tracks/Wheeljack)
    - pay $100 for a repaint (Punch/Counterpunch)

Transformers fans cannot complain about price because you have proven that you will pay any price or simply go without.

Not sure why it matters that his alt mode isn't marketable. You think a lot of parents are buying their kids $60-$80 Hasbro MPs to play with? Adult collectors are their target demo, by far.

So you're saying we'll pay any price, except when we won't?
    So, just like anyone else?
