Nonsense, they are the new Star Wars of this generation. And I don't mean quality.

So far I hear a lot of bitching, moaning and complaining. Not one of you whiners have added anything constructive to the conversation. Maybe all of you should try making a movie.....ohhh wait, none of you bleeders have the money or connections to make one. SO SAY SOMETHING USEFUL OR CORK IT, ALREADY!!!

I keep telling myself it can't be worse than the last 2 movies. But I personally hated the last two movies so much, I can't bring myself to watch them, probably ever again - and that's sad for a true fan of the brand.

I really wish Bay would let a real storyteller take over and get out of the way. I hate Bay's POV on life, which comes across through his hypernetic, sexist, juvenile, overwrought, low-brow, horrible filmic geography, doesn't know how to put the goddamn camera down ever style of non-filmmaking. Bottomline, he made the movies not for kids - and that's sad. I was embarrassed to watch DOTM with my boys, and that's sad.

Boo to this. I hate to be a hater, but as a fan to of the brand this is just more bad news. 2 more movies? I might even skip them - sad to say, but I have to take a stand. Why watch 2.5 hours of garbage? Even if some of the robots look amazing, he doesn't know how to use the camera to even show them off, especially the transformations. So I'm better off looking at still images anyway.

That's not very constructive either. You call it bitching, but it's points of view. I respect if you dig the bay films, I said why I do not - why I really despise his vision. If you have a different pov state it. Don't insult us for having opinions.

I have no problem with anyone having or even stating their opinions, but it could be done with a little more respect. It's easy to sit in the movie theater and criticize; it’s another to be behind the camera with all the responsibility on your shoulders. There are things about the films that I don’t like, but on the whole, I think they have been done pretty well.

    Ok, I can't resist. :bay

This one will be out on DVD Januaryish- distributor hasn't determined the release date yet
    Here's the Kicker trailer.mov - YouTube

This one is out a bunch of places.
Into the Arms of Strangers- Trailer 01 - YouTube

Reel including some shorts and animation (some of the coolest looking stuff I've done)
    Chris Harris Director's reel 2-11 - YouTube

They're all very low budget (and may not be to TF fans tastes), and you're absolutely right, it's highly unlikely I'll ever have a big budget behind me.

You're also right that making a movie is a good deal harder than picking one apart (which i am certainly guilty of). But we're still allowed to. Personally I think his Tf movies are terrible by any reasonable measure- but they're also horribly addictive and I can't stop watching them.

Is Bay a better film maker than me? Quite possibly, I don't know. I'd like to think I could make a much better film than he tends to if I had his resources, but I might be fooling myself and I'll probably never know.

But I'll say one thing for the guy, every shot in every one of his movies looks AMAZING. He's got a great eye, and a great knack for staging large action. What he doesn't have is a good idea of how to stitch it together coherently (although working in 3D helped him some there), or how to tell a basic story with involving characters.

They want to take this franchise infinitely into films as long as its super mega profitable. If almost the entire human cast is being rotated out then It presents more of an opprotunity to tell a Transformers story where the robots are persistantly never ageing but learning from millions of years of constant battle. Partnering with new generations of Humans who see them as revered titans or tools of their own corrupt power plays.

But they need to let the Transformers make decisions on their own and be treated as characters. The humans explain all the major points and make the decisions on what the Autobots are going to do in previous flims. Then there is no gravity to Transformer character death. That is what doesn't click with me as a Transformers Fan.

I have no doubt their going to do a complete change up on how the characters look because I think the Mass consumer is really bored with the previous trilogys Style as a toy line with all the reused CGI models giving reused toy molds for the following films.

Hopefully Hasbro still has a major say in the CGI robot models. Because their going to depend on them looking as slick as possible to sell toys and merchandise.

Morshower was that military guy, yes? Nice for him to be back again but since I had to think for a moment to remember which one he actually was I doubt him not being in it would've made me go 'Oh no!'. Still, I'd rather him back instead of some cartoon character like Simmons.
But I was mostly hoping for a jump forwards in time to allow things to have developed to something a bit different if it's still going to be in the same universe. If Morshower is back then it's obvoiously not too far after DotM or he'd have probably died of old age by now.

Bay back for TF5? Possibly filmed back-to-back with TF4? Well, I suppose if you're going to take a shit you may as well fill the whole bowl while you're already sat there.
It's been totally underground for the last couple of movies at least. I think DotM's Driller was a sneaky nod to that. BayFormers only comes up out of the ground to completely destroy things. :p

Being in the moviemaking business isn't a requirement for being allowed to complain about a movie franchise or its director. 'Why don't you make your own movie?' is up there with the 'true fan' nonsense.
But since you're a mod here you're fully allowed to tell people to shut up in a thread just because they don't share the same opinion as you.

I'd be completely ok with them throwing out the Witwicky plot lines and making TF4 more centered around the military and the Autobot/NEST alliance. We would have more time for robot scenes (Autobot and Decepticon), we would have more time to focus on the characters of, what I think are three of the best humans from the movies (Lennox, Epps and General Morshower) and we would have more time for the enjoyable orgy of new military tech, military speak, and alien robots blowing shit up.

TBH, I don't believe any of this. Actors are notorious for speaking crap when they're cornered. Off-the-cuff comments and all that.

There is no way they’re starting filming in December. Just think about this for a second. These sorts of films, particularly two of them back-to-back, have an awfully long pre-production process. Also, what’s Bay planning on doing, filming it with no actors? If filming was really scheduled to start in December do you not think we would have had at least one bit of casting news by now? It’s bloody late September! Another thing, he has just finished shooting Pain & Gain, which is now in the early stages of post-production.

This “story” is rubbish and, as I said, is just an actor issuing a completely expendable off-the-cuff comment.

This is a good point. It just reminded me of something.

My experience working in the movie industry was that things pretty much just shut down all december every year (meaning there was very little work to be found).

Now there's absolutely no reason why they COULDN'T start in December. But given the culture, unless they had a reason to start December- why would they?

The thing is though, if they're shooting back to back, they're going to need the extra time. If filming takes a few months for one movie, it makes sense to start a few months early because usually the filming for these Transformers movies starts around March.

Does Harry Potter even count? Wasn't it just one movie split into 2?
