I care because even on Cyberverse it looks stupid as fuck. Consider that even goddamn Cyberverse Legion Bumblebee hides his front wheels and there's some sculpted detail of wheels where his shoulders are.

If a Legion figure, with considerably less engineering than a Commander can do it, I just don't see why Hasbro needed to go all lazy with UM. I would've liked it better if he didn't have the wheel in his calfs, truth be told.

But, like I said, Mabye the actual model has more wheels on the trailer part. I think its hard to say HE DON'T LOOK LIKE THAT" yet, when we haven't seen him on the show yet. It's very possible the cgi model looks JUST like the cyberverse, and just the truck is missing wheels.

Given the Voyager only has six wheels, it seems unlikely.

... the extra wheels is just odd.

That said, I love this figure. Mine's a wee bit loose, but not floppy. He holds poses just fine, but just sort of feels a bit loose, you know? I hope he doesn't get any looser.

Voyager actually has eight wheels. The inner thigh ones are just unpainted, like CV Magnus's shoulder wheels.

Oh? I don't see them... either way I was referring more to the vehicle mode that definitely only has six.

Actually it's the lower leg bottom outer wheels that are unpainted or molded. One of the real wheel folded and wrapped around to become the inner leg/calf/thigh wheel.

Anyhow, once I get that Voyager, I will display him like the Promotional pic or like Cyberverse. I think it's look better with the 2 real wheels are at the outer leg as oppose to have one in the out side and another one in the inside of his calf.

I would not mind if the wheels are also visible somehow on the alt mode. But the thing is that they're not. If that's the case I'd rather them not be in the alt mode. How hard is that to understand? I don't see how people think my stance is such an outrageous stance here. Can I not desire some consistency between alt and bot modes? I can forgive the ones on FE Bulkhead and FE Cliffy as, being unpainted they can be easy to miss...but on CVC Ultra Magnus, it's clearly, undeniably wheels on the inside of his calfs.

Just a little consistency is all I ask!

PlanckEpoch..I dont think your outrageous..Im not trying to cockblok your opinion. I wasnt aware the voyager had the same count of wheels, but still, for all we know about the ACTUAL cgi model used, magnus could very well be a Cab with TRAILER! and the trailer would have 6 wheels..Im just kinda saying that we have not seen these guys on the show yet, so It could look alot different that what were seeing here.

We all have things that get under our skin with this stuff. its the nature of our hobby, and nerdrage fans are common. Im NOT in any way saying your wrong..Im just thinkin im gunna wait til he is unveiled in the show before I say "That looks nothing like the toy" When THAT happens Ill join your crew.

did any of you guys like my repaint idea on the previous page?

Just got my takara ultra magnus today. Do not have the hasbro one. Shoulder joints are good and not loose. Figure holds hammer without problem. Hammer clicks into hand easily. Great figure. Maybe they fix it in the later batch and maybe its takara.

Personally, I think this is aching for an Onslaught remold. New head, new double-barrel cannon weapon, call it a day.

I meant to do that on mine while I had him apart and completely forgot and now his chest part is glued on and I won't be able to get it off again to do.

Why glued on? Well, where the screw goes through his upper back into the part for his chest it looks like the hole wasn't molded deep enough. So when the screw was put in it split the end where the rounded nub is at the end of the piece that holds the clear blue shoulder pieces in. I had to take him apart, drip glue into the split to fill it as it wouldn't press back together and then glue it to his chest so it won't snap off. Everything is perfectly functional and unless you're really looking at him you'd never know he's got internal injuries, but it does still kinda bug me a bit knowing he's not 100%. I tried to take him back for a replacement but they didn't have any more, and I had a hard enough time finding this one so I'd rather not just get a refund and perhaps then be left without one at all.

Beyond all that though I really love the little guy. Mine had the mega floppy arms like most others but I coated his balls (ooer) in glue and they seem fine now. Looking in his ball sockets though there's less than the usual area for making friction contact so no wonder so many are floppy. Trying to pose his arms though, especially for a double-hand hammer attack, his arms keep popping off.

... you keep referring to this "actual CGI model"... of a non-show character. We haven't seen an "actual" CGI model because there really isn't one. There's no reason to think he's ever going to be on the show.

Take a look at the card art, that sure as hell ain't hand drawn, why would they cheat on his shoulder wheels, chest and leg wheels if they weren't basing the toy on something? Besides, he has more going for him appearing in the show than say, Rumble, including the afore mentioned cheating kibble and the fact his design has appeared in the show as the fake Optimus Prime in Orion Pax pt.2.

Good. They are in proper scale and they compliment each other as Wreckers. I even gave Ultra Magnus the transparent gun from the Starhammer. It passes for a shield as well. It looks great as a weapon for Bulk too (maybe even better).

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...-prime-render-top-trumps-card-via-tumblr.html

No sign of the inner thigh wheels.

We don't know why they did what they did, but I still thinking citing a mythical render no one knows exists is silly. Hell, RotF Scattorshot had fake kibble too and he was an off-screen character. It's been known to happen.

Robot Mode: Ultra Magnus appears as a nice mixture between the original G1 Ultra Magnus (mostly the head) and his more recent Animated incarnation. He’s mostly blue with some red and silver/grey highlights and looks pretty good overall. Very nicely detailed for a figure of this size class.

In terms of articulation Magnus also does a pretty good job. The joints are a bit loose on mine, but I don’t know whether that’s a general problem. The big shoulder pieces need to be adjusted now and then, but otherwise there is nothing to complain about. Okay, Magnus can’t turn his head, but I can live with that.

Like his Animated predecessor Magnus carries a big hammer as his main weapon. He can wield the weapon two-handed, but that requires quite a bit of rather unnatural-looking arm positioning, so I advise against it. The hammer can convert into a big rifle, which he can either hold on hand or mount on his forearm. Either way, a weapon befitting Ultra Magnus. Overall, nothing to complain about here, a superb Commander-class figure in robot mode.

Alternate Mode: Have we seen any Ultra Magnus so far that didn’t become a truck? I don’t think so. Magnus again becomes a truck, again somewhat resembling the vehicle mode of his Animated predecessor with some shades of RID Ultra Magnus as well. Not too much I can write here, a rather basic-looking truck with good detailing for its size. The hammer/rifle can be put on the rear end, either pointing forward as a gun or backwards for a kind-of crane look. Either way, a fully sufficient vehicle mode. No complaints.

Remarks: At this point in time we haven’t seen Ultra Magnus appear in the Prime TV series. He had a role in the Exodus novel (supposedly the prequel to both the Prime TV series and the War for Cybertron computer game) as the leader of the Wreckers, which this toy’s profile mirrors (though the elite force isn’t named). Seeing as a Voyager-class toy is also planned for Magnus, one can assume he’ll appear in the TV series sooner or later.

Ever since the Scout class was repurposed as the ‘Cyberverse Big Guys’ class I’ve mostly steered clear of it, but Ultra Magnus here is well worth the exception. A superb robot mode, a good vehicle mode, a kind-of Animated homage, and an all-around very nice figure. Fully recommended and not just for Ultra Magnus fans.

It's a shame that the Cyberverse has more detail and more paint app than the Voyager. Unbelievable.

Huh, I actually hadn't seen that card, I was just thinking of the cg on the box. Really weird how it's based on the voyager but mistransformed. Anyway I was wrong, another point for the toy only side.

This really makes me want to know what the story is for this design. The chest cheating on a toy-only design I could buy, but the shoulder and thigh wheels are weird. Though the latter is probably just because of the voyager.
