This is now pretty much a staple of Activision's production structure, in order to increase returns from the outset - especially with an IP they now consider top-tier AAA.

Wouldn't be overly surprised if they push out a 'COD Elite'-style exclusive membership package before too long, either.

 

I actually have these on my PC and play them quite often:

Atari games
NES/SNES games

In the last six months, I've played the Atari games that I mentioned (that's why I remembered the titles so easily). I also played Breath of Fire for the SNES for the millionth time, and played Crystalis for the NES. In the last two months, I replayed Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Castlevania: SOTN on the PS1 (played on the PS2 though).

I'm one of those gamers who will ALWAYS be Gameplay over Graphics. I would LOVE to torture gamers who began with the PS2/Xbox with Atari 2600 games just to hear them scream like little bitches. lol

That is why current games suck in my opinion. Too much emphasis on how the game looks, instead of how it plays. Plus DLC is just a kick to the balls.

 

Still irritating though.

Like, I can get preorder incentives... at least if it's like in WFC where *eventually* everyone can get a DLC pack that unlocks all preorders and additional content that is DownLoadable with it... but this? This is low.

And yea... ofc it's Activision. HMS probably has little say in matters of publishing, since that's Activision's ball park... to which Disc-Locked and/or DownLoadable content both fall in.

Really though... I'd love to see some sort of Class Action lawsuit against companies like Capcom, EA, and Activision for deceptive advertisements of DLC as they're misusing the commonly-assumed acronym to fraudulently lock-and-hide content a user already physically purchased.

I know right? At the very least... some games offer Unlocker "DLC," but still offer the option of manually unlocking by playing the damn game.

 

Those costumes look great but $10 is quite steep. Keep in mind they're costumes and no additions to game modes or weapons.

However I may just go grab that Grimlock avatar item

Not sure if anyone else commented... but why is Ultra Magnus a Decepticon?

 

It's the multiplayer. Every chasis/part can be used on either side. Whoever took the screenshot wanted the right colors and you can only get that color combination under the Decepticon faction.

 

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

^That's stupid. That's really stupid. Especially after they hyped and stroked themselves over how wonderful and engrossing the customization feature had become. All the colors should be available to use for either side. Now that's something I'd like to see fixed as an update and not some goddamn dlc (because knowing Activision, it'll probably happen that way).

On another note, what really worries me about all this DLC bullshit is that once these consoles are no longer supported, you could very well have a large issue where all this extra content becomes unsupported and forever unobtainable. Crack open a fresh copy of this game for the first time 10 years from now, I don't think you'd be able to download the extra content at all.

I want them so I'll pay, it sucks but I'll pay it. Like everyone has already said, if it charts you that much then don't get it, that'll really stick it to them.

 

Day one DLC won't be going away. There are extremely logical reasons for on disk DLC. Blah blah blah. I've decided to stop trying to explain how things work. Apparently people just want to be pissed off over stuff that doesn't matter.

On topic, Amazon delivered the game to me on Monday so I had to wait a day for the DLC I saw advertised become available. ARG!   Granted after buying it I'm only using one or two pieces but it was funny that I wanted to throw my wallet at the screen but it wouldn't let me.

 

I'm DEFINITELY going to be using at least Blastoff's chasis for my Scientist, I like the idea of zooming around as a rocket! I might use pieces off Magnus, Wheeljack, and Perceptor too, just have to see how it all looks put together.

 

Same here, remember some people don't play multiplayer. Wheeljack parts FTW, Loving my preorder Prime Parts too, He looks great. I get shivers seeing running people down.

I wish all the heads were interchangable, some of them look awful.

 

Yeah they look great, but since I don't have a Gold account, nor do I want to pay for one, these don't even matter since none of them will be usable in campaign and they didn't have the foresight to put an offline escalation type subgame in.

I may put this one off for two years like I did with WFC.

 

Huh. I didn't see Hound anywhere in the game. Is he later DLC?

If a game like this was released in the "good old days", there would be like less than half the characters available.

Its not cut content, these are characters that wouldn't exist if it weren't for them being DLC. 110% of a game with them, not 90% of a game without them.
