Right on Warbot Defender is sure more cartoon accurate than this Generation Springer.

That's exactly what I was thinking. HasTak would be foolish not to use this mold (with a different head) to make a Whirl figure. I know for me, it would be an instant buy.

While I do like this Springer, I agree that it was a frustratingly missed opportunity to not release the mold as Whirl or Rotorstorm instead. It is definitely more suited to those two, and they are in more need of updated toys.

I wasn't too impressed with warbot defender. The diecast in it really killed the figure imho. While I don't think this Springer Repaint is perfect, it will be a nice figure to hold as a place warmer until I finally get a triple changing Springer.

It is perfectly suited to Whirl, and I'm amazed it didn't come out as Whirl first instead of Tomahawk (screw that Blackout repaint, forget that it's "movieverse," just give him one eyeball and be done with it).

However, at this point, you have a Headrobots product coming out to correct the problem, not to mention an official cyclopean Whirl on the way. I think Springer was the correct choice here. This is an upgrade from Universe Springer that doesn't break the bank for me.

I dunno, head aside the Universe take seems to fit the character far better then this "square peg in a round hole" version.

So a Cybertron repaint is better than a pseudoClassics remold?

Not a chance. I hope many people don't think that either. Generations Springer is the best modern Springer we have. Sure he's not cartoon accurate but then that's the nature of repaints. He got a new body upgrade like everyone else.

I wouldn't even call it "pseudo classic", I'd call it a movie aesthetic mold with a cartoon aesthetic g1 head awkwardly slapped on it... No better than trying to pass off ROTF Brawn as "classic". Just doesn't work for me. (and I like the tomahawk mold) But the proportions are just way too far off.

Honestly, this thing looks more like the result of a fan/3rd part upgrade kit than an official product.

Have to disagree with you, I think Tomahawk's legs are about the only thing on him that's Movieverse. Now Terradive is the exact opposite. Classics forearms on a Movie toy.

Would still be a movie toy with a cartoon head on it.
