    Better than bumper-chest wheels-on-legs.

Also, his arms may be the forelegs, but they're actually the forelegs upside down. (the feet end up on the shoulders and the upper leg is the forearm)

This seems to be true. The BB repaint and spider woman are wave 4's and being repacked in wave 5. I think Kup/Rumble were being repacked in wave 6, but I honestly didn't pay that much attention to it since there were no new figures.

I agree with TCJJ on the voyager weapons. I was never that big into the lights and electronics just for the sake of having lights and electronics, even when I was a kid. I was more into figures that had interesting, more accurate engineering. The best example is some Goliath figures from Gargoyles. My brother got one that had light-up eyes, made noise and some kind of armor, it didn't appeal to me. I got one that had functioning collapsable wings.

Hood/Cockpit chest, thruster feet, may be predictable, but still better than front legs = arms back legs = legs.

That and the fact that animal robots make zero sense is why I hate beastformers.

And yet, I can't wait for FoC Grimlock, lol.

"Robot animals" is a better phrasing?

They make no sense because animals are organic - machines are not. Humanoid machines hiding as other machines, I get. Humanoid machines hiding as animals that obviously aren't animals does not.

Except they aren't usually for hiding. Beast Alt modes are more agile and can handle a much wider variety of terrain, and for characters who don't spend a lot of time in urban areas they're far more practical than just a car.

If anything machines hiding as animals makes more sense, since you're less likely to assume they'd be a robot in disguise. In Beast Wars they couldn't survive without their beast modes, since the organic matter protected them from the harmful overdosage of energon radition.

In my original post - I said that I hate beastformers and yet I still want FoC Grimlock. Irony right?

Anyway, back in the day I was no Grimlock fan, but my G1 nostalgia goggles have blinded me and so he gets a pass. Yeah, it makes no sense but it is what it is.

Yep! And like I said, the plus side is that beast modes are far more mobile than vehicles, so you're not a rolling block while you're trying to avoid a slow death.

And from a real-world perspective, they make for far more interesting fight scenes. Cars and trucks slamming into eachother and jets just flying around isn't as visceral as wild beasts and monsters clawing and beating eachother.

the fictional rationalizations are all well and good but since I wasn't a fan of that series, Beastformers are just something to me that on their face = dumb, for better or for worse.

I get that others feel differently and I'm OK with that and won't spend time on the board proselytizing.

You know think about this more, I don't really have an issue with Soundwaves minions. Maybe because those felt more like pets, or maybe it's because they are also "G1".

Either way, it's just how I feel about it.

Vehicles make more interesting battles if the battle is done right. Like FOC Shockwave. He flies and has a huge cannon making up two thirds of his vehicle.
That would really be an interesting battle if he got into a fight with someone. He could be very strategic, more than a gorilla.
