Thought I would share with you some info I gathered about the new MMO Jagex is making – Transformers Universe

I went to the London Expo on Saturday and Jagex gave a 20 min talk where they talked about the game, answered questions from facebook and from the public.

I also recorded part of the talk but having some issues uploading on youtube as they say the video is "too long". Its only 18 min long...  

In Summary:

A free web-based MMO based on Transformers Prime.
Aimed to last for at least 10 years.
Will have various known Transformers Characters
At launch the game will be based on Earth but eventually other “areas” will be accessible such as Cybertron + other planets. Hence, the name “Universe”. They have stated that new transformers will be introduced as we travel from one world to another.
Energon is aimed to be used as a currency.
Real money will be integrated in the game but in what way exactly has not been yet finalized. Most likely a way to increase the pace of things for people who would like quick results. It will not be used to purchase a more powerful weapon as that would not be fair.

Regarding Customization:
Initially only vehicles but animal forms/beast modes to follow.
You can choose a male or a female character.
There will be classes: ie brawler, snipper, technician (not yet defined)
Alternate modes are not just a mount

Sounds great... Can you chop the video into several pieces?

 

Did you get the sense that they would actually have a Beta version by the end of the year or not?

 

Are we ever going to get some solid screenshots or video of this thing? They keep going on and on about stuff but are showing nothing. Not that I have any faith in this thing though.

 

I've never played any online games specially mmo but if its anything close to what they keep saying about this game set some $$$ aside to give it a try............that's if my wife doesn't come out with her" I need a new stove and fridge" stories again

So mow it's confirmed that there will eventually be beast forms. Just a while ago we got word for the first time that it was a possibility. I hope it this isn't a misinterpretation of what the makers said. And if true, I hope you can scan a beast mode and not have to make a new character in a different class and have to start leveling it up from level zero.

I'm also glad you can't become more powerful through money. I don't intend to pay for anything more than the ability to play and if people could become more powerful than me through money alone, I wouldn't even buy that. So far, I'm pleased by the money parts.

I thought it was already confirmed to have other worlds in it. Although I hadn't heard that they wouldn't be put in at the launch.

The game sounds like it could be good. I might buy it. Obviously I need more info first though. I hope we hear more about it soon.

Oh. I thought that just meant you don't have to pay for a subscription after you buy a disk.

 

That is my assumption also.

 

So is it like one of those online "free" games that makes you play for weeks to win one coin, but you can buy 20 coins for $5 from your credit card.

 

I signed up for the beta while I was there, sounds pretty good

i still have my doubts that, being browser based and free, this will be anything super mind-blowing

but hey. free transformers game. im in for at least trying it!

 

Beast modes...? My life is complete.

 

Sounds great really looking forward to it. Does anyone know what the games camera angle is going to be like? Diablo/Runescape? World of Warcraft/Champions Online?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but to me it is a very important element, not a deal breaker, but a critical element.

 

I've heard multiple times that it will run like Runescape.
