Never really expect they did such a good job for this drone of Decepticons

    ...that's called 'design influence'.

Just because you think re-tool means what you think it means doesn't make it true. Unless they actually use existing parts from a previous figure, it's a new figure with 'design influences'.

Cripes people, it's been 8 years since the nonsense with people thinking Energon Starscream was a retool of G2 Smokescreen, I thought we'd know better by now.

Not entirely sure what you're getting at here, because the two Vehicons obviously share parts, as do MP-03 and MP-11.

I'm not about to jump to that conclusion after one medium-resolution photo of its resin prototype.

As for the rest, yeah, I basically interpreted Anguirus wrong and thought he meant that to him, the term re-tool applies even when it's simply a case of old designs influencing new ones, ala G2 Smokescreen to Energon Starscream. Clearly he didn't mean that, so that's my bad.

This is true. There might be some subtle differences that we can't see at this point.

But I'd still hedge my bets on HasTak taking advantage of the show model's near identical forms and reshelling the same basic frame, for the economics of it.

Oh, it wouldn't surprise me: we already know the legs are similar, and I'm pretty sure they share the same funky elbow joint.

Maybe somebody'll ask about it at Botcon.

That's how I'm leaning with. It would make perfect sense to do so.
