It was a head-shrinking experiment. Mass-shifting gone horribly wrong! :)

Right. Because Sludge really should be sleek and aerodynamic to fit with his fast and agile motif.

Yeah I actually noticed it straightaway in bot mode like, 'Hey that looks like...' -tabs to the altmode pic and sees the Autobot symbol in the same place - '... Sludge's altmode head!'

But that looks like the only really easy part of the transformation to decipher! I mean, does the neck telescope in, spread out, or loop around the botmode back like a spare tyre?

Yays, Sludge! As a dinosaur nerd and lover, I'd say that Sludge looks spot on as being an Apatosaurus instead of being a Brontosaurus (a dinosaur that doesn't exist!). W00t! I can't wait to see him in the game. :D

Looks crappy. Hate the tiny head. These Dinobots remind me of Zoids.

That's fine. I think that Beast Wars gave us some of the ugliest designs in the history of the franchise, so I'm glad to see them going oldschool for these.

Considering the strong G1 aesthetic in WFC/FOC, it sure beats asymmetrical shell-formers with animal heads for hands and tails for weapons.

In all fairness, I think the Dinobots always looked like Zoids (and they also always had tiny heads, so that's kind of oldschool too).

However, I admit I sort of prefer the retro-industrial style of the original Dinos to the more segmented techy new-style dino-modes we're seeing here. But still... it's the frickin' DINOBOTS... I think it's hard to really complain when you're getting something this classic. :D

Well they looked like Zoids as in they were also robotic animals. But aesthetic wise the old Dinos never looked like Zoids. They never were as techy as Zoids. These new Dinobots are.

Head wise, I still say this Sludge's head is a bit too small. The Dinobots never had such small bot mode heads. Maybe in the toys but not in the cartoon or comics.

But yes, I agree. New Dinobots is always a good thing.

    I'm digging Sludge.

I like Grimlock's current look, not so much the one he has in this art.

Slug is actually doing nothing for me. Dino mode looks way too much like he does in Animated...something about the eyes. They are "friendly" Autobot blue and geometrically shaped. Slug (nee Slag) should look like a goddamn psychotic monster. A real shame, since he was my favorite non-Grimlock Dinobot. As for his robot mode, it just looks faintly absurd, an assemblage of spine and dino bits.

Swoop looks like Swoop--I approve, but interesting to note that he's far less radically redesigned than both recent Swoops (IDW and Animated).

    I think it's just generational. 80's Zoids weren't far off from 80's Dinobots. :)

So in a way, it stands to reason that new Dinobots would evolve along similar lines. But yeah... because of the "primitive" angle, I do like the old bolted-metal style of the OG Dinos better...

I like bots with small heads, and in this case, I think it's to emphasize his bulk (maybe even alongside the other Dinobots)... but I think it's also true that his head is just a notch over the line between "stylistically disproportionate" and "just TINY".

Sludge eats Energon, Decepticons, and possibly alien fish. His teeth look fine to me.

I don't see any fuel caps on the Autobot cars. :D

No... there are 5 and Sludge has always been a sourapod (ie brachiosaurus, diploticus, apatasuarus, etc) . your thinking about Snarl, the stegosuarus. Animated Slag was renamed Snarl, and TF Animated only had 3 dinobots to my knowledge. They were Grimlock, Snarl/Slag, and Swoop. FOC on the other hand has all 5 with Slag now being called Slug. Snarl's pics haven't been released yet, but you can get a glimps of him in one of the shots of Grimlock fighting insecticons.

I've never seen her hate on Movieverse. And she's right. This design is so lame.
