I believe the cashier had a concerned look on his face as I approached.

Ask Kickback about Heroes of Cybertron at Myers on the way to Botcon 02 I think it was? I think I shoved him out of the way as I ran :D

Oh and for the record I was a defensive tackle.

Awesome as always guys, but KICKBACK I think what you meant to say is that Railracer/JRX is one of the best combiners ever, not just train combiner. :thumb  You can argue differently for nostalgia reasons, but it is one of the best executed combiners ever. In fact when people see it on my shelf they don't believe it's three different toys.

Thanks for this guys, RID is what got me back into TF. it did so many things right in my opinon. And i like to think it paved the way to have beast and bot, and different subfactions within each side, all into one show. It makes the universe have more depth and is more interesting.

I think its great that you gave an explanation as to why RID hasn't been released in the US (I didn't realise it was so complicated) but you fail to mention the various UK releases over the years. I know US fans seem to have an issue with importing DVDs that the rest of the world doesnt (heck you could have owned Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory 5over 5 years ago if you invested in a multi region player) just think it would have been nice to mention that RID HAS been released in english if people want to make the effort to get it.

Great issue otherwise, so much love for the line that brought me back to the fandom!

I have very high quality rips of it from those DVDs. Now that I have a region free DVD Player I am going to import the actual DVDS.

    Great magazine outing!

I was completely 'out' of Transformers before RiD had arrived on the scene. I caught the occasional Beast Wars/Machines episode, but that was it (I can appreciate the series much more now, though).

Then one day when cutting through a toy aisle in Wal-mart... "What the... Optimus Prime??" and the rest is history.

I recall watching the RID series when it came out and picked up many of the Autobot figures. Sadly, I gave most of my figures away to a friend's son after the line had ended, focusing my newly-started collection on the toys that I clearly recalled from my youth... the (at the time) new Commemorative Series of G1 reissues... But it really *was* RID that got me back into the hobby!

I've regretted parting with those figures now, as I gave him all 3 Autobot car brothers, Prime & Ultra Magnus, and many others...

I *DID* manage to keep 2 figures... The first is my Scourge figure, who still graces the shelves with his presence... He really *is* a great figure, and I'm happy to own him. The second figure being the combined Ruination figure. I loved how it was a repaint of the Combaticons, but with the added benefit of combining all his accessory weapons together to create a couple of HUGE weapons for him!

I've since repurchased Optimus Prime, as well as picking up Bludgeon, and a few Spychangers (Including the RID Prime, Scourge, Ultra Magnus).

I still intend to pick up Ultra Magnus to go along with Prime, as well as the Destructicon Scourge ('Hero' Prime repaint)... Really seems to me that the repaints of the line are the real prizes!

I like this series mostly because of the toys. man I how I loved optimus prime and I was like wtf are they doing with the transformers now ( I thought it was a continuation of Beast Wars, and they were bringing optimus prime back to life).

I don't know what happened to the Armada toys it was mostly shell transformers.

"Marionette" is re-playing in my head. Wonderful RID commemoration issue guys! The God Fire Convoy cover art is beautiful to behold! Makes me sad we never got to see that one-issue RID comic proposal. I'd still love to see a RID comic!

You mean there was going to be over 50 eps. originally before they cut it down to 39? Imagine where the show would have gone had it continued...

I want that RtS G2 Prime black repaint so bad! And they can call him 'Scourge', but to me, he'll always be Black Convoy-sama!

From what I can recall from our pitch...

It was a one-shot (or a mini-series, whatever they felt would be better), that featured the R.I.D. cartoon universe and it took place a few years later, and Cryotek breaks Galvatron, Scourge, Slapper, Gas Skunk, Darkscream, and Ruination out of their intergalatic prison. They combine forces with Cryotek's army (Obsidian, Dreadwind, Smokejumper, Bruticus, Jetfire, Windsheer, Axer) and launch an attack on the Autobot headquarters on Cybertron. Ultra Magnus does his best to fend them off with the Cybertron Autobots (Mirage GT, Scavenger, Nightcruz, Daytonus, Sideswipe, Sideways) but calls Optimus Prime for help.

Omega Prime is formed and eventually saves the day. Left it open at the end as Cryotek escapes with Ruination. Foreshadowed Megatron Megabolt as well as a way to "take over" Fortress Maximus.

IDW said no, they'd rather tell the story from the beginning (or a story that takes place outside of continuity). Later heard from someone that pitched a G2 story that they were given the literal copy/paste response we received. Was very, very disheartening to find out you thought they were receptive, but in the end, they really didn't care.

i will never accept tfclub sideburn as rid sideburn
cybertron crosswise would have been a better choice, hence the desing similarities
the classic rodimus mold just doesnt fit, less articulated than the rid one, blockier, i just dont like him as sideburn

Nice issue! I was able to see RiD on YouTube and blew through it over a couple weeks (unlike A/E/C which I wasn't bothered with). For a quirky, humorous, repaint-focused line, somehow it really speaks to many of us fans, even those of us who were "lapsed" at the time this was on.

This magazine prompted me to unbox my Korean Black Convoy...er, Scourge...from the box he was packed in during my move. Now, to grab my JRX...rather, Rail Racer, and stage some battle.

Schweet issue. I even have X-Brawn (bought him from a garage sale for 2 bucks in '09) stashed somewhere in my closet.

And the comics are awesome as hell, the Nemesis Prime is pure gold :lolol

That would have been a good way to introduce all those other non-show RID releases in fiction! It's sad but not surprising really that IDW would not seriously consider a fan proposal though. They may get a few of those and they may just not want to spend the time to go through each one. And they obviously had their own plans for TFs. The best chance an idea might have of being at least read is through comments and letters really.

IMHO, the best issue so far!! Loved the topic of course, RID has become one of my fave series..finally got a chance to watch the entire series this year and loved every moment. I knew all of the Japanese names and I would agree SF, some of them were awesome and some were not. I've managed to collect a few pieces and cherish them but I never get tired of seeing them displayed by those who were luckier to have more of them.

Hopefully I'm not going to spoil the ending by saying I loved that
Sky Byte was singing his wonderful song as he floated into the sunset, without any other pesky Cons to order him around
but just in case it is a spoiler, I'll do the tags. :D

As for this issue of TFWe...it's the first I've read from "cover to cover"...everyone's contributions were informative as well as entertaining. Keep up the great work guys.
