    That critic is a joke. He's not met one person who liked Pearl Harbor? Complete and utter horse shit. If that's the case, he needs stop hanging out with chimney sweeps and actually interact with us lowly street walkers. And summer blockbusters always make money? Waterworld, Stealth, Speed Racer, Speed 2, the list goes on. Maybe he's never heard of Google either, because it took me all of two seconds to find this list.

    Arent all movies events? Large gatherings of people paying to get into a central arena to watch something?

    I think the Transformers movie hate is down right hysterical. People use phrases that can be applied to a million other movies but make it seem like its solely accurate to Transformers.

    So... Transformers is an "event film", and the one whose advertising campaign has been marketed as "see the last chapter!" isn't? I can see the logic in a lot of arguments against DotM, but this one really doesn't hold up.

    But if anyone is surprised that Potter did this much in the opening weekend, they just weren't being very realistic. The films are huge, and their success really doesn't impact the fate of the Transformers franchise at all. DotM made its money.

    It was expected but at least Transformers had two weeks to itself unlike alot of movies this season.

    Heck Captain America comes out in 5 days. While it wont demolish Harry Potter it certainly wont help.

    I'd be willing to be the fiver in my wallet that HP will hit 500 million in five or six days. Still, Dark of the Moon has made $762,800,000 in less than 20 days. Good odds for any Greek I say :D
