You'll never get one. Hasbro has a rule (which was articulated at Botcon 2011) when it comes to the Lambo twins. G1 is the only time you get both. Everywhere else it's one or the other, not both. So as the movie has Side-swipe, there is never gonna be a movie Sunstreaker.

Looking great, and the MechTech weapon choice(if that carries over to the states) is perfect. Can't wait to get my hands on this guy.

 

I don't know about the Quickstrike homage, but it looks great anyway.

Perfect mold to reuse. Sideswipe's swords come together like the friggin pincers of a scorpion! That and the reused/molded mechtech are great touches. Can't wait! I double dipped on the so-so RotF Scorponok repaint just for its BW homage.

Don't get me wrong, I think G1 Sunstreaker is a great character but I don't need to see him in every universe. Sunstreaker seems to only exist in G1...no doubt because Sideswipe is a much better name and if they are really avoiding using them together Sunstreaker will always get the shaft. But why is it spelled out like that? Doesn't that just discourage story ideas using twin Autobots?

Vangelus repeated it and the reason behind it during the botcon coverage. Said it was during the fiction panel I think. But I can't remember the reason.

I am totally unfamiliar with the Quickstrike reference this is apparently making. Had to look it up. Having done that, the deco and weapon choice fit pretty darn good.

Not sure if I'll snag one if they come stateside. Definitely not going to go for it if it stays Japan exclusive only.

 

Add more yellow and it will lean more to a homage to Sunstreaker.

I should probably make an on-topic comment...that being, I love the car mode to death but the robot mode looks awfully clashy, so it's a maybe for me.

Not exactly. There's been a few cases of twin Autobots other than the Lambos (even though they're the most common appearing pair):

Jazz/Ricochet - sometimes they are treated as twins (in the SG verse, they ARE twins)

Starscream/Sunstorm - Sunstorm is sometimes refered to as Screamer's "Evil twin", since Sunny was the defective, insane, and radioactive Starscream clone in DW's run.

Jetfire/Jetstorm - Animated's Jet Twins, the first experimental "flying Autobots" and could combine into Safeguard.

Skids/Mudflap - Movie Twins. Probably the least successful twin-pair in Transformers history (although the fact they were supposed to be twins probably wasn't the reason they were so unpopular).

I think another reason is that Hasbro can hold on to the Sunstreaker name more easily than Sideswipe. "Sunstreaker" is a made up name that isn't exactly used in nomal conversation unless the subject is about a streaker in the sun, but sideswipe is a term used to refer to a kind of encounter involving moving vehicles on the road.

 

Wait, a BW nod on a vehicle mode and it's not some club exclusive item in the states? Yessss!!!
