And yet, somehow, that makes him a little more awesome in my book. He's a mute, and yet he can still snark at Starscream just by replaying certain clips. He's creepy, quiet, and looks awesome. And I don't have much fondness for Soundwaves in the other continuities.

Are people so shocked that a lot of people like Beast Wars that they have to resort to accusations of electoral fraud?

People genuinely like Dinobot. Back in the 90s, people admitted to crying when he died. You don't often get that reaction over a character's death in Transformers (besides G1 Prime's death, that is).

All Walky did was (basically) say "I like Dinobot and I think you vote for him!", and I don't think he controls some numberless army of minions that can actually affect the outcome of a poll voted by (potentially) thousands of fans.

I don't think what you're saying equates to anything close to vote rigging.

When Walky said "I take full credit for this", he was being flippant. Joking. If I recall correctly, at the time that he was shocked that Dinobot had won.

Congratulations to Waspinator on joining the transformers Hall of Fame with Dinobot . Next up let's get BW's Optimus Primal and Megatron in the hall of fame as well.

Were the majority of votes for Wasp really for him...or were they actually for Beast Wars?

Quoted for FAIL, FAIL, and FAIL.

Really? Haven't we been over this literally hundreds of times by now?

Refusing to listen to the truth simply because it's easier to blame something more obvious is getting quite boring, to be honest.

Anyways, loved the whole campaign, had lots of fun, but it's time to move on to new things. And also, those who say that Erector shouldn't be in the HoF because he's a joke: Isn't Waspinator a joke character as well? :p  Didn't mind him winning though! Waspinator is cool :)

    Fail post.

The Erector video was Hasbro's "lol" response to the fact Erector got in. Everyone involved all stated they had a blast doing the Erector stuff, and Brian Goldner apparently loved the video after having watched it. If anything, the video showed that Hasbro isn't afraid to take what the fan community gives it, and can even turn it around back on us and I must say they did a FABULOUS job.

Aaron Archer's comments afterwards, and at the panel the next day, was his personal plea that Hasbro wants this "Hall of Fame" stuff to be taken seriously, and while Erector was funny, he doesn't want to see it happening all the time, every year, which is totally understandable. A joke is funny once - copycat jokes are only eye-rolling-worthy.

You stated that Erector cost Grimlock, Jazz, and/or Shockwave's chance at getting the "Fan's Choice" this year. You may be right, except Erector didn't win, and in fact, none of those candidates got enough votes to beat Waspinator. So I guess you can't be right ... unless you think everyone voted "Waspinator" to try and beat "Erector", even though vote tallies were not public on the Hasbro poll unlike they were here.

Grimlock won the TFW2005 community vote because it was the leading candidate NEXT to Erector, and was more of a "anyone BUT Erector" vote than it was "Voting for who I want" ... that should be evident by the fact that Grimlock didn't win the Fan's Choice yet won SOUNDEDLY here.

    I just find amusing that:

    1) Waspinator fans are trying to rub the victory in the face of Erector fans

I don't think a single Erector supporter ever thought Erector was going to win. I don't think a single Erector supporter ever thought Erector would make it to the Hasbro poll, and I admit to some stomach-ache-laughter when I discovered he did, and read the amazing bio written by Rik Alvarez.

Thus, the "HAHA WE WON YOU LOST" sentiment is basically trolling. I don't think Erector supporters really care.

    2) People are still pissed about Erector being in the running for HOF

A sleeper candidate won the whole thing (Waspinator) over what people thought were shoe-in winners (Grimlock, Shockwave). We'll never know where each candidate placed, but I have to admit this - the Erector crew had a HELL of a time doing everything they did. We had Erector fan-art, Erector customs, Erector banners, Erector pins, Erector business cards ... that passion, that determination to take a "penis joke" and go with it all the way to the end? Gotta respect that.

This whole thing is about toys anyways. What's the big deal? The Erector thing, for those involved, was a fun process from start to finish. I'm glad I got to be a part of it. There will probably never be another moment like that in this whole "Hall of Fame" business. The Erector video was priceless, a true gem, and I wish you all could have seen it.

I haven't seen Erector in anything so far, Waspinator has been in full series,
and some parts of Beast Machines. Erector is only popular because his name sounds like "erection", thus he is a cock joke.

Erector's latest appearance was in the 2011 BotCon comic for starters.

And, I never said anything about the amount of fiction a character has been in, did I?

Also, a lot of you really are generalizing and still refuse to listen to the facts we present. You all say it's a dick joke, over and over again, and refuse to listen to anything else. You seem to be a bit obsessed with the male reproduction organ, yes?

Just accept the fact that not everyone likes Erector because of the name, and acknowledge that fact , and then take a chill pill.

    TOYZ IZ SRS BSNSS! ;)

    Erect

    Definition

To build; construct; raise: To stand to erect a house.

I dare you to go and look it up in a dictionary and tell me exactly where it says anything about male reproductive organs.

It is cool that when you look at a word it makes you think of that, my brother likes dudes too man, but you are generalizing and trying to say that your desires and thoughts are the same as everyone. You see Erector and you think of erect penis, I see Erector and I think of a bad ass little robot with heavy artillery and a desire to preserve his home planet from destruction and build it for the future.

First, congrats to fans of waspinator.
Don't know if this has been posted, I am not reading 38 pages to find out, but I feel like it was a divide and conquer situation that allowed for Waspinator to win the fans choice this year. There were 3 g1 candidates and only 1 bw. Of course this wasn't intentional or planned in any way, just the way it turned out. I believe if the tables were turned (if there were 3 bw and 1 g1 candidate) the g1 cadidate would win pretty easily. I could try to explain my thinking behind this but I am just too lazy right now.

Yep. I've stated this before. It's also the very reason Dinobot won last year.

No. You missed my point. I wasn't saying that BW characters = electoral fraud. Just Dinobot. Mostly because.... (continued below)

If that was all he had done I wouldn't be saying anything about it. But last year he pushed HARD over at the tfwiki to convince people to vote dinobot. So because of that the question now is how many people voted for Dinobot and how many people were just mindlessly backing Willis? Because of his actions, the world will never know for sure because there's no way to verify it one way or the other.

Technically you're probably right, it probably isn't vote rigging. But at the very least it wasn't on the level or by the square either.

At best he was being a flippant ASS. Even joking about that implies that he had enough influence on the fandom to skew the results. Like I said, Dinobot MAY have been elected legitimately, but thanks to Willis we'll never know for sure. So just to recap, the election skewing thing is an accusation towards Willis for pushing so hard at the wiki, not on Dinobot for being a BW character.

I didn't cry when Optimus Prime died. I did cry when Dinobot died (I still get teary when I watch the dvds). I actually like the fact that Dinobot is in the HOF in spite of my misgivings about how he got there. At the very least enough people liked Dinobot to get him into the voting. And this year I'm thrilled that Waspinator got in. I would have preferred Shockwave, but that's just my fannish devotion to Shockwave, I'm not gonna hate on Waspy because of it.

Also, regarding the Erector thing... if it's not about erections then I challenge all the Erector supporters to explain why out of all of the no official context characters from that era Erector is the only that saw any support. Seriously, why Erector and not say... Airwave? What's that? You don't know who Airwave is? Well nobody knew who Erector was either! I mean seriously, if it was any other character I MIGHT beleive the "it's not about erections!" argument.

I nominate Shockwave then, and encourage G1ers to do the same so we don't split the vote and get some other fuzzy creature in. If Hasbro wants serious business - it doesn't get anymore serious than him.

    This is WOAR.
