AAAAAaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddddddd sold. Thanks for those spectacular pics. I am sure many of the QC issues mentioned will be gone with the final product. I can't see them fixing the wide legs but I hope that can do something about that long tab sticking out the back or the waist. But ya I am totally sold. Just putting this out there, if this thing sells hardcore you know we will be seeing new age cassetticons. Its a no brainer and if one of the established companies don't I will learn how to do it myself. lol I love me those cassettes. edit...Oh look opposed to what the reviewer said, he's got knees that bend correctly.
I don't know why Deceptigtar keep insisting that he doesn't. He even pointed out that those joints were there in his review. It just looks a bit odd from certain angles, due to the way the thighs wind up lining up with his toes. But they're knee joints nonetheless. Yes, he'd perhaps look better if those transformation joints in his thighs doubled as knees. But it doesn't mean that his actual knees don't exist.
That is weird. I didn't recall that it was Deceptigtar was the one who said it and is also the one that posted these awesome pic..with knees. Wierd but I do appreciate these comparison pics a lot.
Yeah, I'm still on board for this. Yes, it doesn't look as good as Guido's art, but that's a physical impossibility. The toy's proportions aren't too far off from G1 Soundwave's, and they're very similar to DL Blaster's, so they're not wholly unreasonable, if not great looking. Still, I like the idea of having a modernized Soundwave that still works with my tape collection. Still doesn't supplant Cybertron SW in my Classics roster, but this makes for a neat companion piece at least. And it's not too expensive. I'd probably rethink my decision if it was closer to the 80+ range, but at 60+, I'm more likely to bite.
Yeah sorry again everyone's deff of knee is different. Yes his thigh joint should bend, but those saying knee as the other part there are limitations. It's not so much bending as it is moving the leg back, you can't do no 90 degree. And like I said before you can make the other part bend at the thigh but will get movie ss chicken legs. Sorry for any confusion on that not trying to steer anyone away either.
Not that there aren't official Transformers who have similar restrictions in articulation range. RtS Tracks only has 45 degrees of movement, for instance.
Hmmm... It looks semi ok in some poses. I wish his shoulder canon wasn't so tiny. The one on his right I mean. I also wish they would have made his lower legs expand to the sides to add some bulk to his legs. Another thing I would like is if that yellow wasn't so damn bright. Maybe they could have used a gold metalic color. I want to like this thing but with iGear being iGear now I'll wait for them to release a super awesome G1 Soundwave. EDIT: also, am I the only one that thinks that G1 Soundwave blows this Soundwave out if the water? It puts it to shame on those comparison pics.
Well, I think this just goes to show how difficult it is to translate 2D art into a 3D product. The original artwork for this is great, but it obviously cheats a lot to get it's proportions right. They've done a decent job of attempting to bring this to life. That said; I was on the fence about getting this guy and now I'm not going to at all. Too many small issues for me to be paying the kind of money he's going to command. Three to four years ago this would have been a decent third party offering. Unfortunately for BTS the bar is much higher now with the very sharp offerings of FansProject, I-Gear and PerfectEffect... BTS should stick to what they do well and that's accessories... every time they try to pull off a fully transforming robot the execution just seems to fall flat on them. So, yeah, pass for me. Hopefully PerfectEffect's version (if it ever becomes more than a teaser silhouette) will make a great Classics Soundwave. Until then I'll just keep my Generations WFC Soundwave as my Classics Soundwave. Just my two cents.
@WYVERN Depending on where you want your Soundwave displayed waiting for iGear may not solve the problem of filling your Soundwave spot on your Classics shelf. BTS's Soundwave is a redesign with modern engineering (that is my personal definition of a Classics figure) IF iGear makes a Soundwave it will be part of the PP line and thus being a Soundwave plucked right out of the G1 cartoon with awesome articualtion and features (judging by PP05) Soundwave being Soundwave, and rocking even in his original 80's toy, will obviously look better in a PP form but it won't be a Classics figure. It all comes down to your preference, where you want to display him and your personal definition of what makes a Classics figure. BTS has some damage control to do by releasing a prototype too soon. They need to pop on these boards and show us a final product with a lot of QC fixes.
I believe PE's soundwave will be definitive unless Hasbro makes one. that's my hope. Otherwise, I will commission a custom one based on Perceptor's mold and that will be that.
