Given that $=£ when it gets to the UK, I might as well splash the cash and get the Takara version, simply because I prefer the cartoon colour scheme. Nice to have an alternative for those that want it, and I do really like that Targetmaster figure.

In the highly unlikely event I see it a reasonable price over here, I might just pick it up for the car mode and the bonus figure.

few things about this deco REALLY bug me. While the overall concept is good as an alternative to the Takara release, I hate the dark grey face and red upper legs (MP starscream boxer short syndrome again) and the inconsistant use of chrome. I wish the hands were orange and his whole collar area was red to furth match up with the G1 toy (if you're gonna do something, do it right!) The loss of the two tone deco on the waist and helmet is a real shame too. really brought out the detail on him.

As it stands I can only feel this figure looks ok, It just doesn't excecute it's concept as well as the Takara version. It also doesn't have a single deco choice specific to Rodimus prime, they all seem Hot Rod orientated.

    Love the Targetmaster though.

If anything this will be purchased solely to fill out my space winnabago mode. I was really hoping I could have a display with Hot rod and Rodimus next to each other, but it really won't work.

Definitely getting him, but since Hasbro neutered him and nixed the trailer, I'll be shelling out the extra simoleans and be buying the trailer seperately off Ebay.

I can't wait to see what design changes they have made besides enlarging the matrix and its storage area and the addition of that translucent piece on the roof in vehicle mode. And yay for Targetmasters!

even if it is $60-70 instead of $50 that sure beats $200+ for the takara version.

I bet some 3rd Party company will make and sell just the trailer for this guy for around $50! Watch. Because if Hasbro MP Rodimus is gonna retail for $49.99 WTF, why does Takara MP Rodimus retail for $200!? $150 for the trailer? Yeah right!

:)  Nah not this time. No clue. Just my straight up observation, and fan speculation at this point. Makes perfect sense if you ask me.

Well, for one, Takara had the mold out first. Hasbro just repainted it. Second, Takara has better paint on it. Doesn't equal the ridiculous price, but there are reasons.

Unless there was real gold flakes in that paint, the price is obviously unjustified.

TRU is guaranteed to jack the price up from $50 like they did with MP Grimlock AND the exclusive Animated Deluxes.

    Book it.

Well it certainly looks like there have been some changes in the mold for the Hasbro release, and with the release dates of the 1st and 2nd Takara releases as well as the Hasbro version so close together I have to think that all this was set in stone before the 1st MP-09 was sold. It will be really interesting to see how many differences there are. The bigger Matrix(and related chest redesign) alone would be pissing me off if I had bought a 1st run Takara. And the paint of the Hasbro version is growing on me, it's like a cross between the G1 toy and the Marvel deco. If the QC is up to par Hasbro may have a winner on its hands. I know I'm looking forward to it. And for roughly 1/5th the price? Yes please.

Where's the fishing pole? Without the trailer/base, this is just MP Hot Rod in Alt Mode. Plus he comes with a Target Master, which Rodimus Prime didn't have. The Bot Mode with Rodimus Prime's face is the only thing that justifies the title of the box he is packaged in. If this fits in scale with the Alternators / Binaltech line, I would consider buying it. On the plus side, the matrix is bigger and the price is very reasonable compared to the other Hasbro Masterpiece Figures.

well for one thing, they have to cover the cost of development, something Hasbro doesn't have to do since they just took Takara's mold. Secondly, the presentation (paint apps, packaging, etc) are twice as nice as the Hasbro version, and finally, yes the trailer. Total that up and it IS at least $150 worth of fucking awesome.

50$ is really a great price but now to just figure out IF TRU will jack the price up and plus next month I won't have hardly ANYTHING to buy but nothing but TF's which I hope to get caught up with some TF's that I been wanting to get. So 2 copys of this Hasbro version and then hopefully later in the year get the Takara version but if a trailer is made for this figure then buy that instead of the Takara version.
