i really love how mixmaster looks in this artwork, i mean he is menacing, big, and actually he was that big in the movie, remember when he where in the bridge? he only could have been visible there if he was BIG, and in the (megatron resurection) scene, he was almost in scale with longhaul, and bigger than rampage(and rampage itself was much bigger than bumblebee so....) mixmaster is big XD
Probably just generics, yeah. Everyone else in the picture is readily identifiable, and those two are identical, so I'm assuming they're just cannon fodder.
I really don't think it is. They pretty objectively look like bug-based movie aliens. Whether you like them looking like that or not is the opinion part. Let's see you try to argue that they don't look like stereotypical movie/comic bug-humanoid aliens though. Just look at Starscream in the bottom left corner...you saying that that doesn't look like bug-alien? C'mon please, it's just that those who are throbbingly movie positive can't take any comment that even comes close to criticism. Ok, you can admit they look like bug-aliens now, not at all a matter of opinion on this one. *Fires up Crysis 2 to fight off some bug-roboexosuit-aliens*.
they look like "bugs" because they are aliens. A lot of people forget that the Transformers are an alien race composed of metallic textures.
yeah, someone who thinks like me and thats right i always complained they looked too humanoid being aliens ¬¬ but still people criticizes the "bay"formers because they are not like in G1
That argument doesn't make alot of sense: just because movies usually depict (hostile) aliens as bug-like doesn't mean that it's some sort of fact aliens look like bugs, hence Transformers look like bugs. They could practically do anything with them, designwise. Movie aliens often look like bugs because those creatures look the most different from us humans, which makes it really hard to sympathise with them. Oh, and they also have creepy eyes and pointy claws. Anyway, yeah, (mostly) the Decepticons are very bug-like. I think they ran with that design choice because it's worked for alien movies in the past. Don't mind it too much as long as they don't go overboard - I really didn't like the Nemesis scene from ROTF where it looks like it's one big organic breeding ground...
