Still liking Ironhide, despite the interesting negative criticisms of him. Will have to see one in person, but as I'll be interested purely in getting one good, dynamic robot mode pose out of it, and the sculpt is generally more movie-accurate than before, I think it'll do the job for me.

However, the talk of the Leader class stuff is intriguing. Which Leaders did those who where there get to see, or get confirmed? Also, I'm assuming the talk of a better/more accurate Leader Ironhide is still wholly rumour, at this stage?

(I'd wade on thru the thread to see if that was answered, but it all got too antagonistic - I can't be arsed with skimreading all that fussing)

Only confirmed leader is Bumblebee really, Sentinel Prime appeared on a long list of toys with Japanese ID's. While most of the toys on that list have been seen a lot are still a mystery including Sentinel Prime.
Ironhide is as you said, wholly rumour.

It just amazes me how you guys are still entertained by the same old stale characters year after year. The first Ironhide & Starsceam from 2007 should have been enough for everybody. But no, you're gonna keep giving Hasbro money for the same crap over & over again.

And meanwhile the rest of us have to look at the same crap rotting on the pegs for 5-6 years straight. The stores still have the crap from ROTF & now they're going to be loaded up again for the next 2 years.

There would be new toys of these guys on the shelves whether fans were buying them or not. They're the main, recurring characters, Hasbro can't sell a toy line without the main guys the same as you can't have a superhero film toy line without any figures of the hero.

I wish we had this much influence! :lol

If you don't like the movie figures, don't buy 'em. Just don't come in here ranting at everyone else dictating what we should or should not do.

Besides, if we settled for the first version of every character we wouldn't have got awesome toys like ROTF leader Prime and HFTD leader Starscream, or HA Jazz.

Some of us don't think the characters are stale at all. You do realise Optimus Prime has been around for over 25 years right? :rolleyes2

lolwut? That would be like Hasbro ditching Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader action figures because they've been around so long.

Thankyou for that clarification. I've been staring at the vids and pics trying to spot this 'elbow pinned to the waist' and not seeing it. Now I know why.

Personally I think he looks fine posed as he is in the Hasbro pic - I'll probably buy him just for that. Not too fussed if the articulation sucks or he's awkward, he's basically gonna wind up as a statue anyway!

That's a fair point. If he's just going to end up posed on a shelf then the arms might not be as big an issue as they can have the cannons (you would need a second one IMO) attached to them to mask some of the weedy-ness.

And the forearm isn't technically pinned to the waist, it's just that the entire upper arm/shoulder is located so far deep inside the torso that at the point where the elbow joins to the forearm the joint is nullified.

Imagine having your elbow halfway along your forearm, but then having your elbow join to your body at the shoulder. It's a bit like that.

How could the 2007 Starscream entertain anyone? :p

Plus, almost all of the Generations line is composed of "old stale characters."

I personally feel sorry for people who are fans of Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Star Trek... Those characters have been around a lot longer than Ironhide or Starscream. :p

I've got HFTD Leader SS, so this deluxe is a pass. I think I'll keep TF1 voyager Ironhide as my movie rep too.

I just would like to see Hasbro turn out some weapon packs reminiscent of what they did with G.I. Joe in the early '80s. You could upgrade whatever DOTM figures you want along with your TF1 & ROTF figs.

I just pulled my HA bee out of the closet to compare (against the pictures floating around).

I can't say for certain that it's a new head (although it probably is)- but the actual visor/mask is absolutely not the same. (But the visor/mask is the worst part of the head sculpt anyhow, so if they fixed just that and kept the head I certainly wouldn't have a problem with that)

Well, the Target-exclusive "Deep Space" version is purty, at least.

And I still want the Japanese Vardia version. :redface2:

Starscream - blah. I'm trying to pick up one of the movie versions of him or his repaints. Ironhide- maybe. Maybe. Depends how the other DoTM figures go, but probably not because Shockwave is more of my kind of Voyager.

Honestly, it's the little things that kill me about this new Ironhide - mainly that the chest armor is AGAIN a fake piece & not the front bumper like it's supposed to be.

Which I could excuse, if not for the fact that THEdeathsHEAD figured out to transform the bumper of a TFTM Ironhide into the chest armor - so why is HasTak still cheating with this piece?

THEdeathsHead Mod: (resized - original pics were over 4000 pixels wide!)

Then again, who am I to talk - I still prefer my Deluxe HftD Ironhide personally...
