I've put the 3-D glasses over my regular glasses and it doesn't work too bad. Kind of feels weird on my nose and they want to slip a bit, but nothing that keeps me from being able to enjoy the film if it's a good film.

Most of the 3-D movies I've seen have been on the shorter side of feature length films so I'm not sure how they would do over a longer film like the Transformers films have been so far.

Really, don't watch the movie in 2D??? Come on, unless everybody can afford a 3D TV in the next year or so..at some point we will have to watch the movie in 2D..so come on?? This 3D thing is getting way outta control..Not only do they charge more for the movies, they tend to give people a headache..and for my   I've enjoyed Avatar dozens of times in 2D, maybe even more so than the 3D version..just sayin'

There are alternatives however, you can wear contacts, or for the real enthusiast, get a special pair of 3D glasses prescription made.

3D should only cause headache/eye strain if the images are misaligned and it's just really badly made in general. Even badly converted 3D like Clash of the Titans doesn't cause it. Anaglyph 3D (with the red/blue glasses) on the other hand, does cause eye strain, but it's always been a total gimmick of the 'free with comic' nature. 3D with polarized lenses/shutterglasses and digital projection is just vastly superior.

 

Yeah, same here. I'll love the movie, watch it three times, but I doubt that my theatre will have it playing in 3D anyway.

Very excited to find out what the teaser will be like. Oh well, about a month of waiting and horrible perspiration on my part before I can see the footage!   I still remember how jazzed I was when the Revenge of the Fallen Superbowl TV spot came out. *sigh*   I'll have that same feeling again.

 

Are you SERIOUSLY trying to say that EVERYONE who has headaches at a 3D movie is a hypochondriac? If so I have two rather strong words for you and the first starts with an F   My vision is indeed bad enough to get headaches from the tech, I took my son to see a couple movies in 3D with the belief that with my limitted vision I woulnt have any issues, but I most certainly did and I highly doubt so many people complaining about it are just making it up and I think speaking for the masses to pass that kind of judgement makes you sir a douche. I don't apreciate being called a hypochondriac and I doubt anyone who legitimately has problems viewing 3d movies does either.

 

was already planning on seeing "Narnia" in 2D & seeing "TRON: Legacy" in RealD 3D, so i can't wait to see if i'm the only one that turns out to know this information while waiting for the previews/movie to start.

 

Got to agree with you on that one. I've seen a few films in 3D and honestly I can think of any of them that were not just as good in 2D. Even on films that were filmed in 3D I haven't seen it really change the film by taking the 2D option.

 

I've always found that i feel a lot of pressure on the bridge of my nose between my eyes the most when I'm watching a 3D movie..not sure if it's the effect of glasses cause I don't wear any, or the strain on my eyes trying to process the 3D...to sum up, not a big fan of 3D.

I'm surprised as many people cry the way they do about wearing the glasses; they are not at all uncomfortable, are lightweight, and quite often I forget that I am wearing them. Heck, wearing a pair of sunglasses are more intrusive... and I suspect that any "side effects brought on by the 3D glasses" are so overblown by the "3D is a gimmick" bandwagon that people have to justify their position..

And the 3D effect is so freaking cool.

Maybe it is something about how the glasses are made. Or in my case I'm having to wear them farther out on my nose because I'm having to wear glasses under the 3D glasses.

What we have here is someone who has no idea how 3D works between the Big Screen and on 3D TV's . . . .not you Dragonclaw the person that said you where a hypochondriac just to be clear.
At the movies the 3D effect is created by using a pair of polarized glasses and an image that is actually two images at the same time. Fun trick next time you go to the movies take two of those glasses and put them one in front of the other depending on which sides is facing which you should see one lense go completely black. Now what this does is it forces your eyes to see each image separately at the same time. In other words it's making your eyes do all the work.
Now on the other hand most new 3D TV work a little different by creating two images side by side at split second intervals so fast that your brain sees them as a blurry doubled image. The flickering glasses shutter in the same direction meaning your eye only sees one side of the frame at high speed. Thus each eye is only seeing one side of the image and your brain is reconstructing it as a 3D image. At home your brain does all the work, just as it naturally does in the real world.
Selling 3D for a living means you have to know a bit about it.
It's perfectly normal to get a headache and not feel comfortable watching a 3D movie at the theater. Your not a hypochondriac and there is nothing wrong with you. Some people are more prone to feeling the effects then others. Some times it takes a while to get to a point that it's uncomfortable to watch. I sat through about 45 min of Last Airbender until I felt a nausea that was not linked to how bad the movie was. The effect should be lessened if your using 3D camera's like the one used on Dances with Smurfs. . . I mean Avatar as it tends to film in the same way the small TVs are now projecting. Still it won't cover up the fact that Bay seems to think he has master a camera system that took it's creator years to figure out. . . .oh wait I forgot. . . . he's Mike FING Bay.
