^ Do you mean, if the toy wasn't Thunderwing? Because Straxus isn't named Straxus and nobody (smart) cares.

If the character never existed if you prefer. That toy seems to exhibit sub-par engineering compared to what's currently available/possible.

^ No it doesn't. It exhibits engineering that allows a design that is NOT friendly to transformation (TW's curvy, demon-like Pretender shell) to turn into a spacejetthing, at a Deluxe size and budget. I see no obvious flaws with the engineering from the pics we've seen. Just a lot of unrealistic expectations, combined with people who have no idea why the toy was made (the analogy would be asking why WfC Megatron is a gray-colored robot with a very large cannon).

Toys that actually do have major or minor engineering flaws, such as Galvatron, Starscream, Jetfire, Cyclonus, and Straxus, may nevertheless be highly enjoyable because they represent a well-liked character. Talking about this toy as if it would ever have existed in anything like its current form, without its character ever having existed, is thus a pointless counterfactual. This toy wouldn't gave gone to concept if it wasn't Thunderwing.

Its not bad, robot is good, jet mode sort of looks like its ment to be some one else. Would have loved this guy to come out as a ultra and been real mega pretender with the smaller bot but this one can still have space in my collection.

I have to agree with Anguirus. While I'm not astounded by the alt-mode, the undercarriage exposure and back kibble are par for the course. I'm hoping 'simplistic transformation' could indicate a solid robot mode, as figures such as Straxus/ Darkmount are a bit too 'flakey and loose' to me.

I am not familiar with the character, on the fence with this guy. Probably won't have the extra scratch to pick this one up.

    ^ And that's entirely fair.

(Not to bias you or anything, but if you're not familiar with the character at all, it's worth noting that this guy literally smacked Prime in the face with the Matrix of Leadership. :D  )

They were bigger but photobucket shrunk them and I no longer have the originals.

He looks ok. I get the feeling he's one of those toys that is better in person. His face is a bit goofy looking though.

What would be Cyclonus' (i'm assuming minor) engineering flaw? Sadly I don't have the mold to know, but so far I thought he was regarded as near perfect in execution.

I like it. My only issue is the nosecone/cockpit sticking up behind the figure's head, but it seems like a lot of that might be removable for the drone. Other than that, the figure makes a good representation of the character and looks to have good articulation.

Has anyone else thought that this mold would make an awesome/ good retool/ paint for jhiaxus? Here is a kit bash I did real quick. Note the g2 logos on the wings. he might go real well the recent representations of other gen-2 characters.[IMG]

I'd have preferred him to be a Voyager in the RTS line but whatcha gonna do? He's still a nice looking bot regardless of size and so so alt mode.

I agree with your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. This is a great idea, though I still would like to see a Black Shadow done.
