I just pre ordered Jazz, Wheeljack, Kup and Perceptor. Will the Hasbro versions be out before the Takara versions? Should I hold onto to my preorder?

Also, any chance we'll get Springer and a better Ultra Magnus?

Just speculating, but if Lugnut, Grapple, and Strafe are wave one, I wonder if we'll get a Voyager CHUG Bulkhead in later waves.... We've got Lugnut and (thanks to the comics) Lockdown, so it's only a matter of time before Bulkhead gets done too...

I'd imagine with a TFPrime Bulkhead on the Horizon they wouldn't do him till that line starts...

I dunno... If TF Prime toys aren't coming until Oct 2011, no reason RtS one couldn't be in the Spring. Chances are RtS will be off the shelves by the time TF Prime comes out.

If you ordered through BBTS, then you can cancel preorder anytime before it's in stock. You can hang on to the preorders until there is a more definitive release date on the Hasbro versions and decide then to keep the preorders or not. Even if the Hasbro versions come out later I can't imagine it coming out much later. If you wait a bit longer (if Hasbros are going to come out later) then you'll save some money.

Doubt we will see new molds CHUG Springer and UM since we already have CHUG Springer and UM (albeit repaints) and Titanium UM.

There's the option of "Killing Jar" inverted Cyclonus colors or the option of a new character that looks like Cyclonus or is a new member of his 'armada' ...

    ... to you.

I don't buy the thinking he can't be "not-Cyclonus" without a new head. I think that perception is largely just because there hasn't been one yet. Prime's head was pretty distinctively Prime and distinctively Autobot until CR/RID Black Convoy/Scourge, and now people desperately want the new G2 Prime repainted as him again.

Rather than shoot down other people's opinions, why not tell us who you think Cyclonus can plausibly be repainted as? And don't say some other version of Cyclonus.

they did a really great job on Kup. that mold is a must buy for me.

I'm really curious to see both frenzy & rumble & how they combine with each other.

I don't see what the big deal is with Kup. I like him, and I don't think he is necessarilly mistransformed.

It doesn't matter whether you buy it or not. It matters whether we (Transformers collectors at large), er, buy it. The statement that Cyclonus is hard to repaint (and have people like it) is factually true because he's got an iconic look and Hasbro didn't spam redecos of him in the '80s like they did with Starscream and Prowl.

I'm going to presume that you are familiar with the story reasons for RID Scourge's resemblance to Optimus Prime.

The "big deal" is that he's awesome. The rest of the thread is people who are enraged by tiny details or less-than-slavish G1 accuracy frantically justifying their existence.

How about quote my whole post and you'll see my ideas:

The second part I don't know if I'd characterize as shooting down an idea. It's opening up the idea of a straight repaint of Cyclonus. Wasn't the other post just as much if not more "shooting down"? I wanted a Ricochet/Cyclonus 2-pack and got "shot down" with "he needs a new head!"

    My ideas:
    -"Killing Jar" Cyclonus
    -Additional "Armada" Cyclonus drones
-New character that looks like Cyclonus: pick and choose a character type, pick and choose a color scheme. I'm not picky. I talked about RID Scourge as an example of creating a wholly 'new' character that's a repaint of an existing distinctive figure. Not every repaint has to be derivative of some character that already exists. So do something like that with the Cyclonus mold.

Why not another version of Cyclonus? That was an idea. You're telling me not to shoot down other people's opinions at the same time you shoot down mine?

Based on that, how about the new character "Hypocritus". He shares a body type with Cyclonus just as the seekers share body types and is black and white in color but also red all over.

Yes, doesn't matter if specifically I buy it or not, but the masses. Which also means it doesn't matter if you do/do not buy it either. One person said it mattered, without adding the qualification that it was just their opinion. I am un-arrogant enough to at least frame my opinions as opinions and I acknowledge they are by saying "I don't buy it". Can you acknowledge that your opinion that it does matter is also not an undeniable fact but an opinion?

I guess not because you go on to talk about it being "factually true".

I'm familiar with storyline reasons, but you understand that the story was written to sell the toy that was made? So a new toy with Cyclonus look can be made a story can be written with reasons for it.

Just because there were not characters that looked like Cyclonus in the 80s doesn't mean new ones cannot be created now. RID Scourge's story is an example of doing such a thing.

Want another idea? Paint Cyclonus as Hooligan, Hellbat, and Guyhawk. They didn't look terribly alike, but because they were in the BC'09 comic and didn't get toys, then people wanted them, even if they were just repaints of E.Starscream and shared the same body.

Because it's essentially the same character. If you wore a raincoat on a wet day, that doesn't make you a different person, it just makes you the same guy wearing a raincoat. Repainting Prowl as Bluestreak is one option; repainting Cyclonus in his negative universe colours (or one of his indentical 'drones', which never appeared outside of a single shot from the movie) is not. And really, Hooligan? Hellbat? Guyhawk? They share more in common with Starscream than Cyclonus. Try again.

Thread is WON ladies and gentlemen.

It seems self-evident that it's easier to sell people on a repaint of an iconic character with a major story arc in televised fiction than with a box bio...although the right bio can indeed do wonders. Sorry that people are pointing out issues with your idea. Perhaps repaint him as Skywarp? :p

It's also notable that Scourge is NOT a redeco of an OP design that EVER appeared in fiction, much less in RID itself.

well prime bulkhead is in developement as we speak, so a "CHUG" style one ain't gonna happen for a while

why we know this? designer at botcon said he was working on bulkhead and he was turning out AWESOME!
