animated to me was the best; but this one still looks nice too  , so second best to me.

true; but the profit base will always be BOYS, thus they have to appeal to boys, and not to girls, lol.

hasbro said eventually, so probably sometime after movie 2 toys die, or they will be a subline along with movie 3.

You know in that one pic it does look kind of different. I think it's just the shading/shadowing of the pic that's throwing off the detail.
I remember seeing a much better close up of Prime (Wish I knew what happen to it.) and his faceplate was more or less the movie design, faceplate wise.

They look okay... I'm not crazy about Arcee's face, but the storyline will make or break the show. I never liked the style and designs of Animated, but it had a good story which made for a good show that I could actually watch unlike the Unicron Trilogy.

On a side note the G.I.Joe cartoon looks terrible and the plot line doesn't sound very good either.

 

Haha I know! It's obviously GI Joe redone as The A-Team....I mean, WHY?

 

It's kind of amazing how much this reminds me of Jose Lopez's last all-CGI work, the 2007 'TMNT' film. Outside of the TMNT themselves, all the major good guys/bad guys were varying degrees of wide shoulders and skinny waists, and all the girls were positively stickly. I seem to recall TMNT fans being okay with the film...until Playmates mandated that the cartoon change its look to more closely match it. That didn't go over well with most fans, particularly with April O'Neil. Ah well.

 

I never understood that. Admittedly, there was nothing wrong with the design aesthetic of the 2003 series, but really, the changes weren't all that jarring. I think they blended well. But then, I'm used to being part of the 'accepting' minority in the fanbases I hold dear.  

Also, Arcee's been moving away from pink for a while now. Maybe not by leaps and bounds, but look at the movie toys and Animated. The Target-exclusive movie toy was blue. The first movie toy was purple. The ROTF bikes, so far, have been blue, day-glo red, and purple/black (though the day-glo red was more pink in the film), and even the Animated toy is magenta. I think it's good to let the characters change over the years - if they stayed the same, Transformers wouldn't have lasted for over 25 years.

Besides, are you gonna tell a girl she can't change her outfit?  

 

I don't think they made Arcee blue to appeal more to boys. At the SDCC 2010 panel, they said they wanted to move away from the "girls are stereotypically pink" idea....the fact that blue may appeal more to boys is probably an added bonus. I agree Arcee can be tougher and less "girly girly." Characters can be feminine but strong, as seen with Blackarachnia from Beast Wars (the Animated version didn't get a chance to grow too much).

On a related note, I hope Blackarachnia finds her way into the new series. I'm glad Bulkhead is part of the core cast - I feel like the iconic TF characters are still originally from G1, and I'd like to see that expand and evolve with the franchise. (The attempt to shove characters like AEC Hot Shot and Red Alert down people's throats didn't go so well)

Considering they're already working on one hell of a deadline crunch, I'm hoping you just mean you don't like it, not to actually 're-design' it. We're looking at the final designs here, although the possibility of what happened with Animated exists(when they modified Blackaracnia and Issac Sumdac slightly for the final product) expect any character design changes to be so minimal you probably won't even notice them.
