Aw man, I was trying to break it easy to him, he's been in denial for a year now.  

 

Well Shockwave looks really amazing of course even though he is a one eyed robot in the hue of purple you can appreciate how close to the original character he is especially when you consider what the movie verse normally does to favorites.

Soundwave on the other hand sooo close but just dont like the whole scary mouth thing on him. I mean seriously Soundwaves character always seemed cooler because he was so mono-tone across the board. It always made him more sinister when you couldnt read his intentions/emotions and then he did something dastardly. The bot you least expect essentially. Soundwave didnt need to be frightening visually he was frightening in his own creepy way.

Sigh ........ but you know what I ll take that over starscream anyday....... that and the wheeljack head on a stick.

 

That it was. Four eyes and a transparent glass-whatever visor in front.

I can't see why that wouldn't carry over.

 

Meanwhile, Skids and Mudflap continue to exist due to being Bay's personal creations DO NOT STEAL.

I get the feeling that Soundwave has a retractable faceplate of some sort just like Prime so that when he talks it looks like what we see in the image and when in battle it closes shut. Shockwave looks surprisingly close to the original.

 

And yet Bumblebee, one of the BayFormers to emote the most, has no mouth (not counting his filler cap pacifier thing). And then there's various other characters throughout movies without mouths (or even things close to looking like faces) that emote just fine through their body language and what they say or the sounds they make.
Soundwave in ROTF gave off just about the right sinister vibes without a traditional mouth, but I suppose now he's down on Earth chasing people like a monster he needs snarly teeth.
The reasons given for having or not having a mouth in terms of emoting or being relatable are inconsistant.

 

No, but he does have giant anime hamster eyes. that's a +2 emoting factor, compared to a mouth. So in order for Prime to emote the same without a mouth, he'd need giant anime hamster eyes.

 

For everyone complaining about the head, remember the toy. Two different head styles. He only used his Satellite/armoured up head in ROTF. I'm not saying that he'll actually have two heads, but two different configurations of the same head(satellite/robot). Or something like that.

 

I can see little "spots" around Shocky's eye - multiple eyes? Not complaining, really (my vision of Movie Shockwave had multiple eyes while still retaining the large, central optic).
I think the only way Shockwave could be any more bad-ass as a fighter is if he shoots FRIKKIN' LAYZURZ from the single/central eye.

Soundwave looks awesome. Kinda holding out for it to be a concept (The Fallen's finalized facial design wasn't spot-on to all the concepts we saw, so I can live in a bit of hope) since I liked the ROTF design with the mandibles. But like some said, he could have a retractable faceplate and visor in the movie. Even so, this isn't G1 Soundwave here, so he could dress up and do the Funky Chicken for all we know - THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.  

 

I'm loving Shockwave's desing, but Soundwave's isn't doing anything for me. I liked the head design he had in ROTF, and I hope they keep it.

 

Doesn't matter Prime will kick there both backsides anyway in a fight...

He will take them all on....

 

I believe those are just the bolt/tacks holding the cutout onto the rod. If you look at Soundwave's cutout he has 4 of the same things above his left eye(s).

 

It's what they do with them that matters most (and that I have the least hope for) at this point.

 

Plus, he also has little ears and big "eye brows."

I love both the Designs, especially Soundwave's. Shockewave could be just a LITTLE better, but I'll accept it.
