I didn't mean it as them putting it into the movie MP line, but couldn't they forget about an MP movie line as the movie figures are pretty darn accurate already or should be? I'd rather them spend the time, money, and engineering on producing the normal MP line with molds of old characters. Just my opinion though. To me the movie toys are bleh, but to make an "MP" line of it now is stupid in my opinion. And not just that, its just a repaint costing more $$.

So you believe that because you don't care for the movie toys, they should not exist? So far this line is just excellent repaints of Hasbro's leader-class figures, and in no way takes away engineering, time or money from the production of the G1 Masterpiece series. This is exactly like Buster Prime (did you have a problem with that figure?), only now they're putting them in the boxes they deserve. Your sacred G1 Masterpiece line will continue with the release of Rodimus.

What you should be upset about is the flood of crappy repaints Takara-Tomy keeps releasing of past masterpiece figures, which are diluting the series and milking collector's wallets.

If they give it new hands, I may be tempted. Otherwise, I like the US version.

    But they're from G1, so it's alright.

First of all I didn't say the movie toys shouldn't exist. I said I don't care for them, but that is my opinion as I stated. Please reread what I wrote. Second of all, Takara is still wasting money to produce this. I'm sure new packaging, new paint apps and such cost money. Money I believe could be better spent giving TF fans a better figure or newer figure. Heck it don't have to be an MP figure, but something new and different would be nice.

Oh and as for the buster prime, I won't be buying that either.

^ You are more than entitled to your opinion, but I must say that the difference between regular release Leader OP and Buster Prime is massive. I have all four versions of the Leader Prime mold and the Buster Prime version is far and away the highest quality and the most impressive. I have Leader SS and have MP Movie SS on pre-order and if it is anything like Buster Prime, it will damn near put the regular release to shame. I can't wait to see the paint apps that they put on the SS mold. I have a feeling that it may not be quite a big a difference as Buster Prime was compared to the regular Prime, but it should be well worth the money. Personally, I can't wait for the MP version to come out.

Sorry, what I meant was you think the movie masterpiece series shouldn't exist because you don't care for the movie figures in general.

Again, you should be making a bigger fuss about all of these repaints that Taraka is flooding the market with and straining collector's wallets. How you've decided that this particular figure, more than any other, is keeping Taraka-Tomy from creating new figures, I have no idea. Besides, they've been doing the Masterpiece series for, what, 8 years now? And they've only released four molds so far. It's not exactly a fast-moving series, and they obviously have no desire to release more than one mold every 18-24 months. I think they can spare the time to slap a little paint on one of their best molds and put it in a nice box, don't you?

I didn't ask if you were going to buy it; I asked if you were threatened by its mere existence, as you seem to be with this figure. The only thing that's changed is the kind of box they're putting it in.

Really? Because I am pretty sure with the sales they make from this figure, and despite your non interest it will sell, it will cover the cost of the new packaging and paint apps, etc and it will bring them profit which they can use to make new figures. They would not have decided to release this figure if they did not think there was a market for it.

Oh don't get me wrong I am sure it will sell and make them money, but TO ME its a waste of money when they could use the money they have now to produce something worthwhile for the fans. I know alot of people will buy it even if its a repaint(look at the MP seekers which have been painted how many times or reissued how many times), but why not do something new is my feeling on this? The "mp" movie starscream is already "mp" articulate so why rerelease in a new packaging with new paint apps? I know Hasbro/Takara needs to make as much money as they can off the molds they have, but I am sure they aren't hurting for money. To me, just slapping on new paint apps doesn't cut it and slowly and surely my interest in TF's is slowing down. I wasn't too keen on the movie figures, nor was I too keen on the animated figures. Now I understand people love them, which is cool its their money and their life, but for me it didn't continue the TF love I had which has slowly been dying off since Beast Wars ended and I know I am not the only one who feels this way. I just want something new thats all I'm saying. For the people buying the "mp" version of the movie starscream, props to you and I don't mean any offense in what I said. If it came off like I was saying you shouldn't buy it or what not, then I apologize.

No what I mean is the "actual" movie starscream figure is already "mp" accurate so why does it need to be reissued already. It is still over populating the shelfs at a few toysrus's by me.

I think they should continue the MP series and forget about reissuing a figure that has been sitting on the shelves now for weeks and barely sellinbg by me. Why not produce another cartoon then with new figures?

I don't feel threatened, I just feel let down that I didn't like armada, cybertron, movie figures, and animated and have dealt with it but the passion for tf's is dying down now. I understand the audience is a majorly kids, so why not produce another cartoon series with new figures and looks? I'd love to see a cgi series again like BW and get new articulated figures for thst series.

First of all, this is the first and only Leader-Class Starscream release slated for the Japanese market; a figure can't be a reissue when it's never been released before (and yet MP-03 Starscream just got reissued for the fourth time, but that doesn't seem to bother you). Secondly, Hasbro's Leader-Class Starscream was just released in the US; you can't call something a shelf-warmer when it just hit the shelves. You seem to be under the impression that Takara-Tomy's Masterpiece Starscream will be piling up on your local Toys R Us shelves; it's not coming to the US, and the Hasbro version (so far) isn't coming to Japan.

Why you think Takara-Tomy is incapable of continuing the G1 Masterpiece series at the same time as releasing a movie masterpiece series is rather baffling.

I want to point out that this is the first release of the mold for Takara. Disregard the ones you can currently find at Toys 'R' Us by Hasbro, as this version is for Takara's market not Hasbro's.

They don't have the one that Hasbro is releasing. The same designer that designed the other Masterpiece figures (or at least some of them) is the designer for this Starscream, so Takara has decided to give it a Movie 1 accurate deco and market it as a Masterpiece release for their market (not Hasbro's). So any complaints about this release in relation to the Hasbro one (in being redundant or unnecessary) are unwarranted.

Remember when everyone got really mad when they released MPB-01 Exkiser and MPB-02 Dragonkiser in the Masterpiece line?

Ah yes, that's right - nobody did, because it doesn't matter if you're not interested in buying. Honestly, talk about much ado about nothing. :lol

I honestly can't understand why people are getting upset/arguing over this figure being included in their Masterpiece line. It's not as if they're throwing in a poorly designed deluxe/voyager/scout/etc class figure in the masterpiece line. Movie Starscream is a well designed figure that, although it might not have chrome parts like the other masterpiece figure, in no way shouldn't be considered on the same level as the others.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first and so far only release of the figure in Japan (aside from the Hasbro one found at some local toy shops). Considering the level of detail on him, perhaps Takaratomy felt it would be better off placing this figure in their collectors line as sales might do better. Which to them is all that matters $$$.

This in no way would impact the release of another Masterpiece figure any more than if they were to release him under the ROTF branding like Buster Prime was. If this figure does indeed have a better paint app, I will probably pick this one up instead of the Hasbro version for the same reason I picked up Buster Prime.

This is the first and only release of this mold in Japan thus far.

Yeah. Hasbro and Takara get to decide which of their toys of their characters go in their lines. Not random fans.
