Maybe they packaged Mudflap with Starscream to help sell Mudflap? Sell one of the most popular Voyagers with one of the least popular?

W/regard to the MASK comments, it was suggested somewhere that Hasbro ARE interested in reviving the brand..... although last i remember they can't use the name "M.A.S.K." hence the "Mobile Armored Strike Kommand".

...and one might argue that they're not necessarily referencing MASK alone. There are a few Diaclone toys that change from vehicles into 'attack' vehicles, (no robot mode) predating MASK.

As for repainting ROTF Voyager Starscream into Thundercracker and/or Skywarp, they're just playing their cards close to their chest, holding them back for later.

The Starscream/Mudflap thing screams panic buy. 'Here look i bought you something or other with robots'.

....There's also those who will buy it because they're particularly fond of that mold, because they don't have it yet, or to bash Thundercracker and Skywarp.

There may even be one or two Mudflap completists...... maybe.

    It's win win for Hasbro.

One more exclusive from that list on the HFTD site down. I'll stick with Leader Screamer and regular Deluxe Mudflap though.

MASK is one of the toy properties Hasbro is hoping to bring to the big screen, along with Battleship, Monopoly, and Stretch Armstrong.

This may very well be Hasbro testing the waters to see how viable new MASK toys are. Makes sense (to me, at least) to incorporate certain play patterns into a sub-line of an already popular franchise rather than bring out an entirely new line and hope that it doesn't tank.

I don't have Gears or Inferno anyway, so that's a good excuse to get these.

The idea of cars with hidden weapons has been around a very long time. The James Bond movies would often put hidden machine guns or missile launchers into a car. Even the GI Joe Rise of Cobra movie and toy line got into the act with the Cobra Hummer loaded with hidden weapons.

But MASK is the one people tend to think of because it's a bit odd that young boys love toy cars and toy weapons but the MASK line is one of those last big hold out lines when it comes to the return of 80's toys.

That starscream two pack is an easy pass. Let's see I have two voyager screamers already, and two mudflaps. The sand deco on mudflap did have me intrigued before, bot not after seeing robot mode. The pint apps on his face makes it look loke he's wearing makeup. Starscream doesn't even look different at all-maybee a tad lighter in color.

Aw man, that Mudflap repaint looks sweet (wish we had gotten that mass-released instead of Tuner Mudflap), but it looks like all they changed w/ Starscream is making the base color a bit lighter.

GAH, why do they always do this with these exclusive multi-packs?!

Probably the same reasons why Hasbro thinks sticking Mudflap in all the multi-packs will sell (the only time I've seen an exclusive Skids without a Mudflap was the RPM in the Devestator racetrack set). The inclusion of that Starscream does surprise me, though, as it's NOT that battle damaged Bonecrusher we saw along with that Mudflap in those leaked pics. Still, the fact this is just another WM exclusive, it shouldn't shelfwarm nearly as badly as Tuner Mudflap is. Plus, you could probably just get the Mudflap off of eBay eventually.

I'm also humored by that RPM Inferno, who has quite alot in common with the Universe figure (the CGI model is the Classics figure's head dead-on, the firetruck number is "401", and it's got a water cannon).
