Looking good, love the variations between the chasis.

Also, for the pre-order bots. Those are only For MP/Escalation mode.
They are still available in the campaigns and as chasis when you unlock them via the campaign.

These two ARE NOT available in MP, except for maybe escalation mode. As the MP has you MAKE your OWN transformer only. Unless you have a preorder code that lets you use a campaign bot. Their chasis is available in MP though for bot creation once unlocked by story progression or other in game method.

Looks like all the cars use swords so far. BB, Jazz, and Sideswipe all do.

In about every developer interview they've done.

Chasis will be unlocked as will be weapons and abilities as you level up, or do the campaign. Campaign will have all bots shown, MP will have create your own bots using the chasis from the campaign bots. Unless you have a preorder code that takes the campaign bot into different MP modes, mostly just escalation.

They mentioned previously, as you progress the campaign, you add more characters you can pick from for you 3 man team. This carries over to MP, as each character you can pick from for campaigns becomes a chasis for MP. (No games ever start off with everything unlocked right at the start.)

So the preorder doesn't mean anything really, since you can still probably make jazz etc in the custom creation. Just like the DBZ game unlockables, they were just pre-made characters of the show for the custom build characters you could have done on your own. But this way you didn't have to build them, you just had them from the DLC. I don't see the preorder codes here being any different. It'd be a waste of man power and money to make so many preorder only bots that are never in the game otherwise. Not smart business. So the preorders let you play them in MP/escalation only. Cause they are already in the campaigns, and the MP focus was on custom bots, so here's a perk to play your favorite bot outside the campaign (preorder code).

The front page story blurb is wrong. They say Jetfire's profile was "tweaked" from his G1 profile, then say he's now the Fastest of all Autobots and a Science guy, which were his two main attributes on his G1 profile.

Pretty cool how deeply they are tying this to existing story, even though there are claims that this is meant to be completely separate and new by some.

Meh... Kinda hoped Jetfire would take elements from the movie version. Aside from the farting, he was the only new character in ROTF I liked. Not a fan of the Gundam look of G1.

As for preorder codes, don't worry about where to preorder. I will bet you Prowl's cast-iron manifolds that all the preorder bots will be a standard downloadable content package in a few months after release, much like the "exclusives" for Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 2.

What I find so odd, however, is the idea of the game to make the war on cybertron, and the drastic "redesigns" of the characters. They are trying sooo hard to maintain the look of the G1 character, while trying to make it look "alien". Why not just make the game based on earth, with the G1 altmodes (maybe Animated or Gen2 modes for Megatron and Soundwave, and Shockwave)?

The robot modes I like, since they look almost identical to the standard characters. The altmodes, however, mostly look silly. Why would a cybertronian vehicle have a cockpit or windshield? No one rides inside! I know it's just nitpicking, but still, it set off my spider-sense.

Because the concept, backdrop and title of the game is "War for Cybertron?"

They're trying to give gamers something new without worrying about an established property. They're attempting to create a new branding, which gives them a lot more leeway in what they can do, create, and own.

Then they should take more creative license with the designs. The vehicle modes are terribly ugly and disappointing. On top of that, they don't seem to have a function. On earth, the transformed state helped them hide and reflected the perfonality. In this game, there is no hint of a function for any of the autobot altmodes. I dunno, maybe if this takes off as a mythology, I'll warm to it. Like megatron's robot mode and voice. Tank mode looks like metal poo with a turret.

uhhh... Don't need to house sensors behind glass... Ie predator drones, missiles, etc. If humans can manage, cybertronians should too.

It's not a cockpit, just something that gives off the allusion of one. From a designer's stand point, something that is necessary to give those characters their iconic and familiar look based on their Earth Modes. They always had them so it's not that serious. :inquisiti

True, there is no real function, because their aliens. It is just a natural ability they have, why do we have body hair and finger nails, what is the purpose behind that?
