Went and picked up some free comics today. Got the Tick, GI Joe, both Iron Mans, both of the DC, the Green Hornet, Atomic Robo, and a few others. I didn't get them all because I wasn't interested in everything, figured I'd just leave those for others. And I ended up spending some cash too while I was at it. Picked up the hardcover tpb Flash: Rebirth. Some GL comics. Happened across a random black battle beast from C2E2 for 2 bucks! Good day.
Got my grandfather to pick me up The Tick, Irredeemable, and Toy Story, as there was a limit on 3 comics. Really interested in Irredeemable, might pick up the rest of the series if this one is any good.
I picked up one of each of the FCBD freebies and look forward to reading them. I don't think I've ever started picking up a series because of the FCBD issues, but it's nice to read them and see what's out there. The store I went to is also doing a promotion where, if you return to the shop with any FCBD freebie during the month of May, they'll give you 10% off any other comic, graphic novel or back issue. Limit 33 discounted items per customer. This is actually the only store I've been to that's really done much for FCDB other than having free issues. They had 40% off all back issues, 25% off any "Volume 1" TPB, a box of 50% off TPBs (nothing anyone would ever want to buy, but hey...), some featured guests and a guy in a Spider-Man outfit. Of the other two shops I stopped at today, one just had the free books and no other sales, and the other store wasn't participating in FCBD at all. I also picked up a bunch of other stuff besides the free issues. Got the new Green ("Will"), Blue ("Hope"), Indigo ("Compassion") and Violet ("Love") Lantern shirts, giving me a complete set...until they come out with a White Lantern shirt. Picked up the Kyle and Black Hand figures from DCD BN Wave 4, the entire "Reign of the Supermen" storyline (except one issue) from the back issue bin and all of Warren Ellis' issues of DV8.
Just Superman #0 at my LCS. I wasn't given any others this year. My LCS didn't seem to be too busy. He said he only gets FCBD issues now for his regulars cause the others just come in for the freebies and never return. I did have to do an online order at GCC so I'll also be getting both Marvels and Irredeemable this coming week.
