    LUKE MCBAIN #2

    Publisher:
    12 Gauge Comics
    Writers: David Tischman
    Pencils: Kody Chamberlain
    Covers: Brian Stelfreeze
    Letters: Ed Dukeshire

    "THE MILL"
TRACE ADKINS continues his comic book adventure as LUKE MCBAIN -- who's taken a job at his family's Louisiana timber mill to keep an eye on his brother, Paul. Sawdust is in McBain's blood, but his blood's going to flow if he doesn't watch his back. An industrial "accident" and a talk with the family lawyer prove that. Paul's up to something...but what? Later, sitting high above the town of Eden, McBain sees a big house and a fancy party -- a sad look at how easy his life could've been. The mystery deepens when a romantic walk in the woods with Callie turns deadly, as a sniper uses the couple as target practice. Times are hard, and people want him dead -- but this axe handle-wielding, God-fearing Southern man ain’t goin’ down without a fight. He doesn't say much, but you can count on McBain; brought to you by David Tischman ("Red Herring," "Bite Club") and Kody Chamberlain ("Tag," "Punks"). Covers by Brian Stelfreeze.

    GANTZ VOLUME 8 TP

    Publisher:
    Dark Horse Comics
    Writers: Hiroya Oku
    Pencils: Hiroya Oku

Without giving anything away, suffice it to say that this might be the watershed volume of Gantz. It's the end of the great Buddha battle, and it doesn't seem to be going well. In fact, it would be amazing if anyone returned to the locked apartment overlooking Tokyo tower. It's really been the worst fight yet. But there's got to be a gleam of hope somewhere.

Also in this story, we meet a few more interesting characters outside of Gantz's hunting party, and it only adds more mystery to the mix.

    * Gantz has proven to be one of the most popular adult anime in recent years, with over 175,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone!

    * Each volume of Gantz comes shrink-wrapped and carries an 18+ content advisory.

    Publisher:
    Marvel Comics
    Writers: Sean McKeever, Frank Tieri
    Pencils: Dave Ross, Brian Haberlin
    Covers: Terry Dodson
    Colorists: Jorge Molina
    Letters: Jeff Powell

Gwen Stacy meant everything to Peter Parker...and then she was gone, murdered by the Green Goblin. When the Scarlet Witch shifted reality in HOUSE OF M, Peter got to live the dream of marrying Gwen and raising a son...but soon that, too, was gone. But what would happen if Gwen didn't vanish along with the rest of the HOUSE OF M? In other words, WHAT IF GWEN STACY SURVIVED THE HOUSE OF M? In the first feature, questions about what would happen between Gwen and Peter, between Peter and Mary Jane, and, indeed, what would happen to reality itself are answered as only Sean McKeever (Teen Titans) can. Joining him are Dave Ross (AVENGERS WEST COAST) with paints by Jorge Molina (X-MEN: MANIFEST DESTINY - NIGHTCRAWLER). Guest-starring THE NEW AVENGERS, DOCTOR STRANGE and VILLAINS GALORE! In the second feature, Peter Parker returns home from the House of M reality -- but he’s not alone. Gwen and Richie have made the trip as well -- along with something far more problematic. Far more sinister. And it will threaten to destroy not only himself and his loved ones, but everything Spider-Man stands for! “WHAT IF GWEN & RICHIE PARKER EXISTED OUTSIDE OF HOM?” by Frank Tieri (EXCALIBUR) and Brian Haberlin (Spawn). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

THE UNCLOTHED MAN IN THE 35TH CENTURY AD HC

    Publisher:
    Fantagraphics
    Writers: Dash Shaw
    Pencils: Dash Shaw
    Covers: Dash Shaw

One part MOME collection, one part authorized IFC Channel spinoff, the first quarter of this jacketed hardcover will collect the work — storyboards, scripts, character designs, etc. — that Shaw has created for a series of original shorts to begin airing on IFC in Nov. 2009. The latter 3/4ths will collect his acclaimed short stories from MOME, as well as several little-seen stories from elsewhere, and a new 20 page story. The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.d. is Shaw’s first book since his breakthrough graphic novel of 2008, Bottomless Belly Button, which was named Publishers Weekly’s best graphic novel of 2008, one of Entertainment Weekly’s top ten books of 2008, and one of Amazon.com’s top ten graphic novels of the year, amongst numerous other accolades. The book also collects Shaw’s acclaimed, genre-bending short stories from MOME, including “Look Forward, First Son of Terra Two,” a remarkable story of two lovers traveling in opposite directions...in time. Also featured: “Galactic Funnels,” the 2008 Ignatz Award nominee for “Outstanding Story,” about the parasitic relationship between an artist and his lover/mentor; “Satellite CMYK,” a sci-fi mindwarp that ingeniously drives the narrative through Shaw’s masterful control of color, and “Making the Abyss,” a fictionalized story of a surreal film set filled with nuclear tanks, hot tubs, and blind ambition.
