Apparently the sun-machine, SYMBOLS ON MAH HEAD and other g1 stuff all came from his suggestions.

As long as he forgets purple griffin' exists and never ever considers Arkerville, I'm fine.

I know, right? When I was a kid I didn't think anything of it, but watching it as an adult I can't help wondering how that ever got past censors.

Well, honestly, maybe a breath of fresh air is whats needed... it's obvious that ROTF's script writer's and director were going in two different directions, and I think Ehren Kruger made it worse, being that he APPEARS to have been on Bay's side, while Orci and K were on their own side. I think that perhaps having two people who see eye to will benefit the movie.

Honestly, all 3 movies written by Orci and Kurtzman that Bay directed were... interesting on the screenplay level. I personally don't think they work well together. Kruger did write Reindeer Games  , but Arlington Road was a good movie, Scream 3, and the Ring, which I enjoyed. I think him writing the movie will help it to be coherent because he and Bay will be on the same page. I also believe that between the strike, and Orci and K's love of writing movies that have 10000000000 things happening at once, and leaving lots of open plot threads, and their attempt to get into the science and tech of Transformers, it allowed the second script to get messy.

Kruger's style is more blunt and direct, and may fit Transformers better. If they have a story already... that's good. I think Kruger needs an associate writer... Simon Furman keeps coming up, but no. Hasbro needs to get someone they trust in the writing chair.

I also keeping hearing how Transformers is science fiction... yeah and no. It's not science fiction on the level of Star Wars or Star Trek. I hope the writer throws techno barbs in there... energon, sparks etc... but too much was crammed into ROTF too fast... The Matrix, Sun Harvester and all the science fictiony stuff was crammed into the second half of the movie, with no setup or explanation. I just hope that Kruger ACTUALLY know Transformers, that he goes back and studies the history, interacts with fans, talks to some of the comic book writers, and takes notes, and THEN writes a script that has some humor, lots of action, and respect for the mythology.

Remember, the same guy that wrote XMen2 (great) wrote XMen3 (bleh.) I hope Kruger does his work, him and Bay work together, and make a great action film, which is what Bay has the talent to do.

I guess you could call it maybe science fiction/superhero. Sure they are robots but they fill the same rolls that superheroes and super villains fill. Heck with Jetfire's teleporting they even seem to be headed back to what would pass for superpowers if they were an organic character.

Since Kruger has never written any superhero type films then who knows maybe that will be the thing he's really good at, or maybe he will not be good at.

Of course if he wants my confidence then at some point Kruger needs to talk about the importance of the villains to a film and how he'd like to get away from bots that appear without being given some sort of personality.

 

That should be no problem, in many of his movies you get the feeling that the bad guys gonna win, hell in Arlington Road they even DO win!

 

Fingers crossed he can bring some of that on the edge of your seat feeling that the good guys might not win this time. I mean you think Prime is a hero now just imagine if it's written so you didn't feel like winning was a forgone conclusion.

 

That's something I can agree with, except for the factory battle (movie's highest point) you're not thinking "I wonder how they'll get out of this one", just "I wonder how the AUTOBOTS will destroy the Decepticons this time"

 

I would like to see the Autobots lose a battle! Maybe they can bring Dev back as a asskicking robot instead of a tool! I mean he was such a monster but wreaked almost no threat.
Megatron should really kick some ass the first half, or even have a battle that the autobots have to run and lose something.

I can't see what they can do, Prime beat the crap out of everyone before the Jetfire Upgrade, after he had the matrix he really made light work of the Fallen and Megatron. I would of like to see him meet someone that wasn't such a pushover. Dinobots would spark my interest but I scared of what bay may do with something like that.
