I really like that Fallen with the head mainly built on the Decepticons symbol. Give it a few broken down bits for a mouth and I'd be happy.
Some great concept work there. The dumptruck and Osprey bot modes are excellent, shame they didn't happen. The stealth boat one clearly didn't get much iteration, would have been good to see that developed further too. It'd be interesting to find out, generally, which bot concepts were created to a specific brief and which were more down to the artist.
Great designs! I'll never ever ever like the Shuriken-Matrix or anything about Movie Devastator, and I'll always believe TF2 is a pointless, plotless insult to human intelligence... BUT, HOLY CRAP! I wanna see the movie that was going on inside Ben Procter's head, where Model-T Ransack and Breakaway exist!
You speak the truth mate. Also, the Osprey/Springer is pure and utter win on all levels, how they dropped it is beyond me. Give us a leaderclass Osprey right now!
As much as I like Overload's hands, I prefer the other design where he has normal feet. Also - why we didnt see him in the movie? Prime killed him off-screen beforehand. He took those hooks he used to kill GRindor from Overload... Microwave-Bot is great,like all the "Kichencons". Toy PLZ. Unfortunately, chances of seeing Springer as a toy are low. We already had a Movie Design Osprey, that even transformed in a similar way (Incinerator). Frankly, I think a kitbasher could do Springer from that mold.
The nuclear sub thing would have been ex-pen-sive, but it would one of the cooler things in a movie ever. Love the Model T. Looks just like Ransack. And Breakaway/Firestorm would have been cool in the movie. Depthcharge would have been something awesome too, but that character model is just too big. Lots of awesome stuff here.
I disagree with that, for every super-awesome bot Ben Procter creates there also seems to be one very generic un-Transformery one as well, so I'm not ready to see ' the movie that was inside his head' But very awesome work, indeed!
Holy Hell. I WANT A SPRINGER FIGURE!!! That design is epic beyond words. Alot of things are beginning to make sense with Breakaway, especially in regards to the video game. The hidden files show his name as Firestorm. And where he got that particular (and nice) camo pattern he sports in game. Overload, while is nice, seems to be a bit overdone for me, personally. And that Power Up Prime looks is even more so. Glad we dodge that bullet with Sideswipe. Kinda reminds me of that animated Sideswipe and this:
That Overload concept is sick! I tried sketching some ideas out for Shockwave as an Osprey a while back, and they looked very close to the Springer concept you see there (aside from the head, of course). EDIT - I just saw the concepts for Mixmaster's head in the link, and I can definitely say it's NOT the lighting or the angle of the photos that make the G1 repaint look disturbing.
does anyone else feel that we got totally screwed on what we got in autobot characters? i do like the version of sideswipe we got better, but the springer, depthcharge, and breakout, look-a-likes are amazingly awesome...and that model T looks pretty badass too...
And I thought Kup and Ironhide where old school...that Model T was sweet. His name should be Rusty..lol
Or it could be given the names Skalor or Tentakil (after the G1 Seacons). Either one a fit given those tentacles/tendrils it has.
Those are some great designs - so happy to finally see a better picure of Overloads robot mode. The Model-T needs a scout-class toy release, and I agree that the sub needs a toy as well. A big toy! Also good to see old boat boots himself, Depthcharge, in there (and with actual working boat boots lol)
