The paint does look a lot like Hooligan, but it's not. If it were, his name would be Hooligan instead of "Fearswoop." What a piece of crap.

They don't have the rights to the name "Hooligan". It's too general. Like Hook.

I have Overcast, who has a very cool Alt-mode and colors, but this guy doesn't do the mold justice. Pass for me.

Err... no. Many times they simply can't copy write a name due to it a) being generic (sometimes they can get around this by slapping Decepticon or Autobot in front of it... think Autobot Skids or Autobot Hound...), b) the name has a copy write with another toy company or c) it could be like Slag and considered inappropriate.

    "Copyright".

And in this case, it's trademark, anyway, rather than copyright.

Apologies. For some reason when I type copyright my spell check program always changes it to the other. So... if I don't notice it...

Also, forgive my ignorance, but if names are trademarked rather than receiving a copyright... what gets a copyright?

Actually that was G1 "season 5". G2 was a different kind of deal.
The Transformers (cartoon) - Transformers Wiki

    Also, about the "copyright"/"trademark" deal:

A copyright, in laymans terms, refers to an original expression of an idea you came up with first, or independently from someone else having a similar idea. You have an idea for a story and write a script. That script falls under copyright. You have an idea for an image and paint it. That also falls under copyright.

Trademarks, meanwhile, refer to names, logos, slogans etc. you may use to advertise your work. For example, the content of the Transformers cartoon, the backstories of the characters etc., all of that is copyrighted. The name "Transformers", used to market the cartoon and the toyline, is trademarked.

Copyright protection expires several decades after the original author's death (differs from country to country), regardless of how long the copyrighted work remains in publication. Trademarks need to be actively protected via consistent use in commerce. If you don't use a trademark for two years, a competing company can try to snag it away from you.

I have no real interest in this set... I think that mold has just about used up it's arbitrary repaints. Hopefully we won't see much more of it.

However, I just have to comment on how oddly appealing it is to have that Deluxe jet packaged with the Legends class Autobots. The implied scale works really well actually. It even makes that stupid drone-head mold look menacing for half a second, if you imagine it towering over the Autobots that way. :)

Yep, I noticed to "tiger" look as well. Thanks to everyone for the G2 education, I didn't know about Hooligan or Fearswoop so this was good info!  Don't think I'll be buying these guys, but good to know about them.
Does anyone know if the Marvel comic series will be repeated in the Classics series that IDW is doing now???  Would like to buy this series if it is reprinted. If you do have any info feel free to PM me with it. Thanks...
