That's quite the detail in vehicle mode, especially the underside! Impressive!

 

I'm a bit confused. Is this toy NOT an Audi R8, but possibly represents an Audi R8 that was used for filming by just looking similar to one, but not exact? I haven't seen too many Audi R8's to know what they look like for sure. If you told me that this alt-mode was one, I'd not even second guess it.

 

No, the first Soundwaves sold for over $100. The ones on Ebay surfaced later and still sold for good money before prices started going down. If you want your $20 Audi, you'll probably have to wait a few weeks. Or get it from menasor/jenny... and pray.  

 

I'd say it's like say..Stockade from the Allspark Power line, designed to give a similar look and feel of the vehicle it is based on without outright being an exact replica of it.

Or could always wait a couple months and pick up a likely higher quality one for $10  

 

It's a false assumption that retail toys are necessarily of better quality that sample toys. Samples are taken directly off the assembly line. Actually, history has recently proven that samples are sometimes of higher quality because molds are brand new and tend to degrade as production progresses (but sometimes, they do make adjustments). Very rarely you will see running changes like on Universe Ratchet for example. Once the samples are out, they usually stay as is.

 

I'd imagine Hasbro either couldn't get a license for it or wasn't willing to pay what it cost so they "re-imagined" it, Ala the Classics 2.0 Lambo bros ~ they're "inspired" by real cars but changed up just enough to avoid lawsuits...

 

Better pictures have convinced me that it's probably not a female Transformer after all. i'm still going to buy it when it's released though!

I picked up a Soundwave from heero for $21 as well, but there are still Soundwaves going for ridiculous prices ($20-40 I think) because people are unobservant. There were all of THREE bought from heero for $21, and I laugh at every single auction I see that ends for more than that.

As for this guy... well, I'll just wait for Sideswipe to show up early. If its quality is anything like Barricade from the first movie, I'll pass.

 

Well they never advertised about the Mustang in the first movie and to me it's obvious they're doing the whole GM thing again with the sequel.

 

It wasn't a mustang, it was a Saleen.
