"This guy"? Wow, I never thought I'd ever hear Shockwave referred to like he's some sort of generically obscure background character.

The reason *I'm* going ga-ga over this is because A) it's Shockwave... who happens to be my favorite character from G1, B) he's once again voiced by Corey Burton (who did the original voice in G1) and is far more clever & deceitful in Animated than he was ever portrayed in G1, C) his 'cool as fuck' factor just went up by a hundred notches now that he's a double agent who not only infiltrated the highest level of Autobot ranks but can also change his bot/alt modes for the sake of disguise, D) his Voyager sized toy actually manages to pull this gimmick off, and E) Animated managed to turn Shocky into a well rounded and extremely well written/developed character finally worthy of the hype that he's always received in the past.

    For starters.

For what it's worth man, the ONLY video review I watch for this figure will be yours.

    No pressure or anything! :)

Edited to clear up some potential confusion.

Wait, do you not normally watch my reviews? It's actually not that big of a deal, I just had trouble following that.

Now see, *this* is a useful answer.

So it does hinge in large part on the show.

Regarding point A, I'm a big fan of G1 Shockwave too, but I'm not getting the G1 vibe from the toy. So that draw isn't there for me. Maybe I'll like him better once I see him on the show, but I still don't think the toy looks that good. Which is not to say that others don't, it's simply my opinion.

Well, there isn't much G1 about this Shockwave. I will acknowledge that.

His Geewunness comes from the similar head design (which is still a slight departure), chest, and voice.

Though this one is SO much more badass than the Sunbow Shockwave. I mean, him running Cybertron is like leaving a cardboard cutout to guard a china factory next to a horde of rampaging bulls.

Haha, you're right, that did come off a little more confusing than what I intended.

To clarify, as I have said MANY times before, you're my favorite video reviewer by leaps & bounds because of your 'no bullshit - here's the way it is' approach. No gimmicks, no bad voiceovers, no embarrassing intros, etc. I was just trying to highlight that even though I watch some of the other reviewers (solely based on whoever makes a review available first), I'm holding out on Shockwave's review until you do it. I just can't let myself suffer through any of the other guy's for this one.

Hope that makes better sense than whatever the hell my first post did. :)

Eh - I like DBanks as well for being informative. Pascal at Cybertron.ca is pretty straightforward when he does videos as well.

SeanLong isn't too bad either in terms of showing off the figures - he goes pretty in-depth with them, which is nice.

And Vangelus' are awesome not just as reviews, but as entertainment.

You're correct, it absolutely DOES hinge in large part on the show. Like most of the Animated designs, I wasn't at all sold on them *until* I watched & heard them on the show, got a better feeling for who they are, so on & so forth.

Where Shockwave is concerned, I was in the same boat - I really did NOT like the Animated design when I first saw it online. But the moment I heard that old familiar voice (one of my all time favorite G1 voices alongside Brawn & Prime) coming out of this character, it immediately became Shockwave and I accpeted the new design style... very similar to how I only got on board with Movie Prime *after* I heard Cullen's voice coming out of it. I still vastly prefer G1 Shockwave's look & colors, but for Animated where every old character has some sort of new look, this is a damn sweet treat. If you're a fan of his G1 version, I'm pretty confident you'll end up REALLY digging this version too and appreciate the character... just in a new way.

Hehe, so basically EVERYONE else that also does reviews then. :)

All I'll say so as not to offend anyone is, yes, I also get some entertainment from D Banks.

Peaugh, could you please post up some good pictures?
I want to see how this one works for myself, a video review would just spoil it for me.

Gotcha. Granted, I think everyone brings something unique to the table with their reviews. When I first started it seemed like most reviews were several minutes long in multiple parts, and while watching them I found myself saying "Just get to the point already!" and then ended up missing what I was looking for when I tried to skip ahead.

There's nothing wrong with long detailed reviews. But I wanted to see quick little "to the point" videos and at the time, no one was doing them, and I'd just gotten a camera capable of shooting vids for sharing (The 2GB Flip Ultra, if anyone's curious). I'd mostly purchased it to easily share videos with sound of our daughter with family members, but it does a good job of multipurposing. SO I'm glad that you and so many others seem to enjoy what I'm putting out there.

I've never gone into this trying to be the biggest or the best, I just want to help share some of the cool stuff that I've been crazy enough to shell out for early. I've said it before; I think it would be horribly mean to get something, ESPECIALLY something as highly anticipated as Shockwave, incredibly early and then NOT share it with everyone who was curious.

No worries, I have every intention of doing my standard pictorial review as well, and I'll probably include many more pictures than usual, partly due to the 4 modes, and partly because I KNOW there are a lot of people amped to see this one. I know I am.

I checked at Hasbro.com and Shockwave is not listed. I've sent them an email asking why they don't have it listed. Even if it is suppose to be available this coming October or December, they should at least have it on the list to let you know what month and date when you can order it.
