THE LONG COUNT #1 (of 6)

    Publisher:
    Archaia Studios Press
    Writers: Jason L Blair
    Pencils: Leanne Buckley
    Covers: Leanne Buckley

    Part 1 of 6
Though their home was founded on the traditions of the Maya, the denizens of Colombiana don’t much believe in the Long Count. The end of the Mayan calendar; the end of the world: it’s mythology, superstition, they claim—and even the warnings of the great dragon Quetzalcoatl have not changed their minds.

Over five hundred years have passed since the Mayan and Aztec tribes threw the Europeans out of the land of the Sun, and Colombiana remains strong. Through its rich and varied history, the land has remained in the hands of its people…but now the time of closure has come.

The Silence Inside Her Heart, the first story arc of The Long Count, introduces Carmen Sandoval, the 23-year-old national sports hero who is the only one heeding Quetzalcoatl’s warnings. Raised on the streets of the barrio, the poorest district of Nueva Cempoala, Colombiana’s capitol city, she learned the tools and tricks of survival, from dirty street fighting to how to fend away the diablos, the street demons. She has returned home to save her friend, to save her city, and to save her world.

But there is more to her story and her history than she ever knew. She is about to be burdened with a terrible and righteous task: to travel to the center of Colombiana and bring a close to all Creation, to rebuild the world in the image of the one destined to destroy it.

    The year is 2012 AD.

This is the end of the Long Count.

    Publisher:
    Archaia Studios Press
    Writers: mpMann, A. David Lewis
    Pencils: mpMann
    Covers: mpMann

    Part 1 of 4
If there is one constant throughout most of Earth’s historical nations, cultures, and religions, it is the threat and the destruction of the Great Flood. And it is this universality of floods, ecological disasters, and the human response to them that make for a compelling story in this 4-issue series from mpMann and A. David Lewis.

In the wake of the recent Indian tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and alarm over global warming, the award-winning creators of THE LONE AND LEVEL SANDS return to plumb the depths of the world’s great myths with this new imagining of flood crises on modern, mythic, and biblical scales.

Explore how this legendary fear may be more relevant now than ever before in SOME NEW KIND OF SLAUGHTER, or LOST IN THE FLOOD (AND HOW WE FOUND HOME AGAIN): DILUVIAN MYTHS FROM AROUND THE WORLD.

"THE CRUCIBLE", Part 5 of 6
Captain America is dying. The super-soldier treatment through which Steve Rogers became the Sentinel of Liberty blessed him with tremendous strength, speed, intelligence and slowed aging. But the human body can only take so much, and after the long years spent serving his country, Steve's once-frail frame is finally breaking down. Can he be replaced? Is that why U.S. Marine Corpsman James Newman has been seeing Cap in his head during pitched combat in Afghanistan?

Award-winning writer David Morrell --- father of the modern action novel and creator of John Rambo in his novel First Blood --- and artist Mitch Breitweiser present a stunning vision of Captain America in modern-day wartime, facing the greatest -- and final --- challenge of his life.

Right now, he wants names, and Nathan McBride is only too happy to give him four: Tyrell, Cyrus, Slick Brukowski and Dirty Pete. When the Foolkiller's done with them, they'll have spat out all the information he needs to carve his way up the food chain to his ultimate prey: the man they call The Cheese.

"THE SEVEN CAPITAL CITIES OF HEAVEN", Part 4
THE SEVEN CAPITAL CITIES OF HEAVEN keeps kicking and punching its way toward the brutal finish line. Danny fights for survival --- for the centuries-long legacy of the Iron Fist against the other Immortal Weapons; for his own life, as Davos the Steel Serpent makes his deadly move behind the scenes; and for K'un-Lun itself as the sinister Mr. Xao and his legion of Hydra science-terrorists conspire to wreak havok on the mystical city. Can even an ultimate warrior like the Immortal Iron Fist fight a war --- and win --- on three fronts? Even with the classic HEROES FOR HIRE working behind the scenes? Yeah, no, probably not. By Matt and Ed and David and Matt and Dave (THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST).

One of the true cornerstones of Western literature comes to the Marvel Illustrated line! The ancient world is embroiled in a mighty clash of armies; Greek versus Trojan. Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, has betrayed her husband, the Greek, Menelaus, and fled to Troy with Trojan prince, Paris. The Greeks have sailed to Troy to bring her back...and crush all that stand in their way. This is the first chapter in the saga that virtually defines the word epic. It is a tale of gods and men...heroism and betrayal. From the lips of Homer to the pages of Marvel Illustrated. And we did it just for you!

Start with one cursed, eternally decomposing hero, 15 and a half centuries old. Remove the mystical left arm keeping him alive. Add his gorgeous, brainy, sexy, classy executive assistant, throw in the leader of a worldwide terrorist organization, stir in hundreds of assassins, and sprinkle liberally with spare body parts. Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, stir vigorously for five issues, and serve in a chilled martini glass. By David Lapham (Stray Bullets) and Patrick Zircher (IRON MAN).
