Man, I’d love to go out for this, but am probably over-qualified (I’m an Art Director) and have no interest in commuting from North Seattle to the south end where Wizards is.

I do need to pull together my portfolio though, it’s been like a decade

Typically a Graphic Designer wouldn’t create the illustrations, illustrators do that :D

but the layout of the cards, design of icons, how the Illustrations are cropped, type of paper the cards are printed on, any printing effects (glosses/foils/spot inks) the way the packaging looks, the way the boxes are die cut, the way they fold, how they show off the product, what is emphasized, all the typography, etc, that is what the Designer does: plus mock ups, press checks, and all that fun jazz... oh, and advertisements, web graphics....

Whaddup, an illustrator here. Artiepants has got that down perfectly. Illustrators and photographers create the assets, graphic designers usually do.. literally everything else. In house illustrators basically don't exist though, so Hasbro/wizards will probably get freelancers or recycle work they already own.

One of their job listings a few months ago was for an art director. They've also said that while the first wave was mostly re-used art, they've been commissioning art for upcoming waves. You can already see some of those earliest commissions in the Metroplex deck.

I kind of hope it's not. I'd like for a bit more focused starter with more synergy for new players to explore before having to buy more cards. Doing a pure decepticon starter would be nice too. I guess until we get official word I'll keep hope out for a Reflector starter or a Soundwave and minicassettes starter. I really preferred learning the game with Metroplex than with the Autobot starter. We'll have to see though I guess.

...yeah, i really need more decepticons for a balanced two-player game, preferably without having to go overboard on the booster-pack lottery...

You know that faction doesn’t lock you in to deck choices? You can have autobots and deceptcons in the same deck.

I think since they were referring to booster packs they just meant they'd like to have access to cons through some precon deck available.

...yeah, but where's the fun in that?..i always built my magic decks around thematic concepts, not min-max game mechanics...

Adding to what was said earlier, i found a listing online for the new starter set.

Theres a new starter set listed on this website? I can’t find info on it anywhere else, a megatron vs bumblebee starter set?

Will they be making a digital play game anytime soon? Something like hearthstone?
