They really got lazy with the transformations in the later films. Whether it was mass shifting or even just plain blocking or not showing the actual transformation (like drift in OE).

 

Yeah it got really bad. I think Bay got bored of seeing them transform, which is idiotic. In the Bumblebee movie you see many many transformations luckily.

 

Going to see that this weekend actually   only heard good things so far!

 

What do I even make of that? I mean kudos for making him look like Megatron, but the transformation looks like it was for a Bollywood film.

 

Yeah the transformations got really lazy. Megatron has these massive wings which simply disappear into his otherwise "kibbleless" back with absolutely absolutely no indication of his alt form. Optimus doesn't show much of his alt form in bot mode either, but it's a little more believable IMO; especially after seeing Challenger's transformation.

 

I’m hoping that dragoon will give us the same appreciation for the design as Challenger did to so many. Showing that something is physically possible IRL makes it a lot cooler to see onscreen!

 

This guy looks brilliant! I hope they make a Crosshairs down the road....

 

I hope this guy has ankle articulation, That's the only feature r-02 challenger missed

 

Another offender is Onslaught's transformation in the junkyard. Just turns into a mass of shapes in a blender and a robot emerges.

 

I really wonder if they intend to make another figure after Megatron, perhaps Steelbane?

I have a v1 Challenger and would probably want to wait for a v3 if the line gets extended long enough.

 

Huh? Is yours broke or something cause Challenger has ankle tilts and even a minor toe bend.

Sorry, what I meant to say is: "MORE ankle articulation." Challenger lacks rotation along the horizontal plane. It just looks a little funny doing a split without the toes pointing a little outwards

 

Whelp, with the disappointment of the mess that was mpm megatron, I feel that I'll be using this guy for my diorama instead. Now, I'm doubly hyped for this release, and I really hope Unique toys doesn't disappoint

 

Yeah id sort of agree with that, i am definitely picking this guy up, now I wouldn't say MPM is a disappointment, i just kind of feel its a great attempt at a pretty bad design..

This on the other hand is the best Megatron figure i have seen PERIOD. Design ( I am a sucker for medieval bots) and execution.

 

I'm going to echo this as well.

While I appreciate the alienness of the flight mode, and even the nice extendo-blaster and whip-arm, it doesn't excuse the fact that the bot mode looks terrible.

It's a very nice piece of shards, spikes, slivers, spikes, fragments, and jagged spikes...with a face. Sure it says "I am the face of chaos" but it just doesn't really emote "Emperor of destruction" the way Dragoon does.

You can fear the roar of a woodchipper all you want, but you RESPECT the resolute stomp of the black knight as it approaches.

 

Agreed, it evokes being one of the"things" the Emperor sics on people.

 

Just out of curiosity, what did you dislike? I was a bit underwhelmed myself. Apparently he has a light up feature? Since when has anyone expressed that as a gimmick they would like to see in the mpm line? I'm hoping a 3rd party will eventually make some improvements on him. He is not doubt the best movie 1 Megatron out there now.
