I hate when a thread gets bumped and no new news is being brought to the table, but locking the thread wouldn't make much sense.

They might communicate interest, but with (as far as i can recall)

    5 Stunticons
    5 Aerialbots
    Blurr
    Skullcruncher
    Beachcomber
    Brawn
    Warpath

all in some stage of development, I'm not holding out much hope for this to work its way up the priorities list anytime soon.

That doesn't mean that it's dead though. If they haven't decided to kill it, they can't really confirm anything further.

They still plan to release it, but of course there's always the possibility that they won't.

This makes me think of the Dead Parrot sketch in Monty Python:

    "He's not dead, he's... resting."

If I had to guess I'd say this is an FT design of old... They've likely learnt a lot and probably improved many aspects of their engineering since it was announced. Hoodlum was re-designed to fit in with their new design principles and I'd say this guy fell into the same boat based on their announcement dates (2+ years old). They probably looked at the archaic design and thought they could do various aspects better - even if it looked the part - and provide us a better figure at the end of the day.

And this is why they need to scale it back with all the reveals. Just don't bother revealing the thing until there's at least some hope it'll release in the not too distant future. I waited almost a year from this guy's original release date until I have to on it and got Ditka instead. My only regret is that I waited so long but they kept leaving is hanging, expecting he'd be out any time until, almost a year later, they finally fessed up that he was being redesigned. Fortunately, I didn't like Hoodlum's design to begin with so I didn't wait and got Mp HotRod.

We have enough thread locking going on in the official Takara MP threads. I'd rather not have that in 3P threads.

It didn't. I was referring to the idea someone posted about having this thread locked which I disagreed with.

Looking at the pics, I think the figure was top heavy and the feet were too small.

Will fans toys finally release at least some color test shots if the three modes this year? They did release sixshot last year, so there is precedence that a tf with more then two modes can be made by FT, or are they focusing on combiners so much that all else is pushed to the back?

This is likely the main reason. No matter the company, Blitzwing's design presents major challenges with uneven weight distribution that will compromise the design. I also think the variable back wing design was complicated in light of this as well and maybe the felt the overall look and feel just did not meet their standards.

I love how most people complain when they have an issue with a toy that comes out. You almost always hear the comment "I would have waited longer for a better version!", but while waiting for the toy most people posting seem unbelievably impatient. ;P

In honesty, I think the redesign was crucial: note that the previous test shots were always on a stand, propped up, etc. I think he simply was insanely unstable, and after the fallout with Rouge FT decided that they have to step up their game. Ultimately its for their as well as our benefit, hopefully.

As for the time, I'd be surprised if he came out before 2020. Look how long the design phase takes, regardless if we're talking TT or 3P. Particularly if you look at the amount of figures down the pipeline; I'm guessing they also take demand into account when ding this: at the moment two MP-scale Blitzwings are available, and no upcoming competition other than FT. However, with the combiner race things like releasing Menasor become crucial, as they are in a direct race with XTB and DX9. An then there's a handful of other figures that they probably prioritize over Blitzwing: Jabber (completing the major 3rd season Autobots), their Skullcruncher (with the very good reaction that Dracula got), the combiners (with Zeta as chief competition, XTB also after their recent improvement). I don't think any 3P companies are large enterprises. Likely, their fairly small groups of people, and I'm not sure whether this is their main or only job (yet even if they were working full-time, this would take time--see how long the release cycle with Takara is, and the reveals often already look like they're fairly advanced).

Yeah, we don't need any more FT-24s.

Luckily I am in no rush to complete my collection.
